I was staying in Bozeman at the fairgrounds and was tired of being able to "reach out and touch someone", as is my neighbors, so on a whim decided to leave early and give Lost Moose Meadows a try (I'm always skeptical of private RV parks as my preference is more along the lines of state parks/COE campgrounds), and probably the best decision I've made on this trip thus far (3 months in).

This is a relatively new RV park (opened 6 weeks ago) situated in a valley near a small town (Lincoln, MT) owned/managed by a husband/wife team (Matt & Nichole) who put their heart and soul into building this park (Also, super cool folks, very personable). They built the park from the ground up themselves and it shows they were RVers themselves and built as they would want to enjoy. Each site is like a little oasis with plenty of room to stretch (B3 feels like a 1/2 acre lot, and likely not too far off from it), plenty long enough for even the longest of rigs (some of the pull throughs are over 100 feet long). There isn't a ton of shade however to be expected as the park is new and there will be shade as trees mature.

Originally I was going to stay here a few nights before continuing west however decided to stay 2 and a half weeks. It's a bit off I-90 however if you're simply looking for a place to stretch out, this is definitely it and worth the trek.

Came offseason for a couple nights to allow us to commute into NYC to do some college touring. If you come into the stay understanding it's a TT and have realistic expectations (number of permanent sites, mediocre site quality), it's not bad. Is it Shangri-La? No, however is one of the better TT locations I've been. This TT allows you to choose your own site, which honestly all TTs should allow. We had site 16, which was up on the ridge, and definitely the best section to be in. It is a quieter section of the park and had nice sunrise/sunset views.

Grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants and the usual fast food joints were 10'ish minutes away.

Bandwidth Speed:
AT&T (Pepwave router with X-POL external antenna): 40mbps down, 10mbps up.

Disclaimer: I knew this was going to be a parking lot based on pictures/reviews.

My daughter goes to school in Fairmont and there are not a lot of campground options in the area, so decided to give Mylan Park a try.

Booking the reservation was online and simple, had reserved site 11 (full hookup site) for 2 nights, and received an email confirmation. This was the highlight of the entire stay.

Upon arrival, signage to get to the "RV parking" (as this is truly not a campground but indeed a parking lot with hookups) was lacking. The entrance to the park sits above the RV parking therefore you can feel your way to the parking lot. Upon arrival to space 11 we noticed what looked to be a long term occupant was parked in our space, however since there's really no check in process here and the phone number for the park goes straight to voice mail, we decided to look online, find another open space for the 2 nights, and simply park in one of those spaces.

There's a lot of construction going on at the adjacent community center, as by 6am you could hear hammering nearby, and a gas powered circular saw (sounds identical to a chain saw) running a little after 7am. Constant truck traffic in the parking lot as well.

We had stayed at a nearby Wal-Mart the night before and honestly, was a much nicer stay. There was more grass at Wal-Mart and the noise level was lower despite being a Wal-Mart. I think future stops in the area will be Wal-Mart overnights moving forward as I can't justify $40/night here. Maybe $10-15, but definitely not $40.

Needed a place with solid cell signal on my way to AZ so I could work a couple days, and this place worked. There were only maybe 10-15 spaces occupied out of ~120, so lots to choose from. Pull thrus were long and level concrete pads which backed up to a golf course. Only complaint was the check in process, needing to go into the hotel to check in.

If casinos are your thing this is a fine place to stay.

Bandwidth speeds on a Pepwave router: AT&T - 60mbps down, 20mbps up on average. Verizon on my iPhone was strong but didn’t take any speed tests.

Extremely clean, lots are all gravel and appear to be mostly level. We were in space 24 and had a great view of the water. By the way, if you want water view without the high prices of the front row pull thrus, go for site 25 as it has a clear view of the river without any possible obstructions (disclaimer, probably can’t get much bigger than a 35-38’ rig in there).

Didn’t use the pool or other amenities but they appeared to be in great shape.

Average bandwidth speeds on Verizon from an unboosted IPhone 7 as a hotspot: 40mbps down, 20mbps up. Reception: consistently 3 bars

The view is the selling point here. By and large this is a gravel parking lot with trees scattered, most spaces are pretty close together however space 19 had a decent front yard. Did I mention the view? Sat outside until late at night just admiring the view from our site.

The water hookup is really awkward, all the way at the front of the site. Aside from this and a lack of grass, a pleasant stay.

We stayed at Winding River based on its close proximity to RMNP. This is a large park surrounded by devastation from the East Troublesome fire, it does have some remnants from the fire within the park but largely went unscathed. The entrance to RMNP is about 1 1/2 miles and the Colorado River runs parallel to the park.

Pros:
- Large sites - we had a site with virtually no neighbors and unobstructed views of the mountain landscape.

- Critters abound - Often times we had moose, elk or other critters roaming around our site

- Lots of things to do - They have horseback riding on site, a disc golf course, a small petting zoo, and other things to do.

Cons:
- The Chuck Wagon breakfast REQUIRES RESERVATIONS. We were not told this at check-in and were denied the ability to partake. We could not even get anything to go. They need to do a better job of communicating this, or at minimum allow to go orders.

- Booking tool, they claim to be a Good Sam park but their booking tool does not take the Good Sam discount. Also, there is a $15 "lock fee" to lock in your site, even though you can select it from the map. This feels a little "KOA'ish" to me and just another method to nickel and dime.

- During the week, from 8a-4p every day for 3 days straight, there were dump trucks rolling by our site every 5 minutes. We weren't sure what they were doing with the dirt they were bringing in however saw where they were dumping them. I would think this could have been done during the offseason as it was rather annoying to hear the sound/feel the rumble of dump trucks all day long.

- Cost, $65/night for water/electric is a tad steep.

If you're coming to be within close proximity to RMNP this is a decent place to stay, however they could do a much better job at logistics.

For what I needed it worked, which was a place to crash for the night, however would likely avoid in the future. Had planned on staying in Lima, OH however the park there was full and this was the only place nearby with availability.

When I checked in the guy running the place mentioned it was a really quiet park, except for the occasional truck passing by. Luckily I’m a heavy sleeper as the freeway is just a pitching wedge away, and heard a train within 30 minutes of being here. Also didn’t help to have someone revving their Harley (as they were struggling to keep it running) at 9:30pm.

Park consists of mostly work chasers, mostly gravel sites with a handful of uneven grass sites. $25 for a tent site seems steep, however not ready to stay in hotels yet and just needed a place to crash.

If you're game for beautiful dune views, a lighthouse shining your direction every 30 seconds, and the sound of the surf (especially after traffic from NC-12 dies down), this is the place for you. There are plenty of hiking trails through/over the dunes to take you to the beach a couple hundred yards away, and nice, level spaces.

A few things to think about:
- If you're looking for shade, you won't find it here. Trees are scarce on the dunes, and non-existent in the campground. If you prefer a more private, shady setting but still a national park campground, travel an hour south to Frisco.
- If you're longer than 40' (especially TT or 5th wheel) spaces where you'll fit are few and far between. We barely fit with our 43' TH and pickup, however to park we had to back our pickup with the kingpin nearly up against the back window of the truck. Sites are narrow and you cannot park on the grass, so options are limited.

Bandwidth:
AT&T - Pepwave 7-in-1 antenna inside rig (Too windy to put up external antenna): ~60mbps down, ~20mbps up
Verizon - iPhone 11: 25mbps down, 11mbps up
