We stopped here on our way South and didn't have the highest expectations as it was a relatively new campground. But we were impressed. The sites are nice and clean, level and big enough for big rigs. It is easy to get in/out of the sites.
The only challenge was entering the park in a big rig towing, we were surprised by the short but steep hill turning down into the campground. It is doable, but be aware.
The river walk is lovely and the dog park (which appears to be provided by the campground owners for the general community) was large and clean.
Overall we liked this place and will stay here again for sure!

This is a classy upscale resort right off I10. It is convenient for a drive through - which was our intention. Unfortunately we had a breakdown in our toad while running errands in town, so needed to stay longer until the Jeep was fixed.
A call to the resort to ask if they could accommodate us for an additional night or two and the response was they were fully booked. Ok fair enough. But the indifference to our dilemma without even another recommendation or anything was disappointing. I am also doubtful they will fill up on a Sunday night - the park was 1/2 full when we left.
Regardless, the campground is very nice and clean. Long level cement pull throughs. Couldn’t ask for much more.
Beware of the invisible dips in the roadway as you drive around the campground. We didn’t see them and it was like an earthquake on board!

Except for the road noise... which is out of the control of he campground. This place is wonderful. Very level cement pad sites, river views , doggie spas , gorgeous pool and spa and just overall great amenities.
The staff is very attentive and super friendly.
Campground WiFi was both FREE and AWESOME! We were both able to work all week on it and stream videos.
Make sure you take a drive to Lassen Volcano National Forest and Park. Stunning!!

We spent 3 nights here on our drive north. It is a fun place - a working farm with animals and farm equipment and lots of corn! We had a nice level site with plenty of space. Only issue was cell service (or lack of) and wifi isn't free. (And according to rumor it isn't very good). We drove to Gettysburg (20 mins) and Carlisle (25 mins). Highly recommends going in the late afternoon in the summer to the Gettysburg auto tour as the crowds have died down and the park doesn't close until 10pm. Sunset is beautiful (and haunting).

We spent two weeks here through Thousand Trails. We arrived around 4 on a Sat afternoon and were led to two sites that had been selected for us. We were able to pick our site from the two, so we went for the one that looked a little more level. Oh man - were we mistaken. It was one of the nicer sites in the campground, but it was impossible to level. (This is in the B loop). We used two bags of plastic blocks and made a trip to Lowes for additional pieces of wood, but our auto leveling wouldn't do it. It refused. So we ended up sleeping with the slides in for the first night, and then moved to site A31 (one of the few pull throughs) for the rest of our stay.
This site was also pretty unlevel, but with some moving around of gravel, and multiple levels of blocks, we made it work.
Almost ALL the class A's in the campground had tires off the ground.
The amenities are tired and old. I couldn't bring myself to go in to the bath houses. The staff are very friendly. The campground is pretty full with permanents and seasonals. A lot of gas line working families. There is a shooting range nearby, so you will hear that - a lot!
You can find groceries and other amenities within about 15-30 mins along with a lot of Amish country stores and farm stands. The area is nice. But we would choose another CG to stay in.
Oh, and don't pay for the Wifi! We tried it for a day - $6/day and it was useless.

Updated Aug 2017 - after the new ownership took over, this campground has gone downhill. It has become too busy, and over run with people and tight campsites. It was totally redesigned and there are more people than ever packed in to the space. Everything we originally liked about the place is now obsolete. We won't be camping there again.

Original post:
You would not feel like you're only a half hour from Virginia Beach. It is a great location on the Bay with gorgeous sunset views. We booked a back in waterfront lot that backed on to a little inlet.. Each site has a table and fire pit. The lot we had also shared a dock where we could fish.
It is undergoing a huge renovation over the winter. We look forward to camping there again in the spring!

We enjoyed our short stay. The staff are friendly and go above and beyond to be helpful. Nice sites for short stays. Longer term are in a recreational area that is not as nice, but we were told the campers are mostly workers who are out during the day or long timers waiting on a lakefront lot.
Firewood is available at 50 cents a piece. There is a small store at the entrance. There is some noise from the highway, but it didn't bother us that much. Overall we would recommend this Campground.

We only booked here as it was close to a relative we wanted to visit . We were truly surprised at how nice it was! We only stayed a night, but it was quiet and peaceful and we were surrounded by woods and tall pines . Really nice place!

We visited the site before we had planned a long weekend there. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations. The sites were not even close to level, and the grounds were old and tired. We ended up booking at a Campground right next door that is under a major overhaul. But even with construction, it was a whole lot better than Sandy Point. We also met a few other campers that had booked here but ended up next door.

We booked a premium site, and were placed in a tight shorter site backing up to the play field. I guess to some, this is premium location due to the proximity to the field, pool and restaurant (which is rarely open after Labor Day). It is also closer to the Interstate, so we could hear a lot of road noise. Try to get a site a bit further back from the entrance to avoid this if you can!
It was a little tight for us as we have opposing slides, but we made it work. It was sheltered under the pines, but the sap was dripping a lot (I guess that happens in fall?) so we now need to work on getting the sap off the roof.
Overall, there is a lot for families to do. I spent a lot of time running or walking the dogs around the large campground. It backs on to the river, so there are river activities available. There is a small beach as well.
One great amenity - for dog owners - the dog park! It is pretty new, and huge! We met up with friends a couple of times to run our dogs together and let them play in a nice big free running area. Great amenity for us, which is why I gave the campground 4 stars.
There is HEAPS to do in the area - in Glens Falls there are a couple of breweries and big stores like Target and Walmart. Lake George is obviously the main attraction. But there are heaps of hikes and drives to be had throughout the region.
