This was my second week-long stay (site F4), the first being in July 2021 (site G8). Since the first stay, the resort has nearly doubled in size with the addition of a swimming pool and Pickle Ball courts and everything is being maintained in an immaculate state. Decent spacing between sites, and the sites are truly big-rig friendly. All asphalt roads and pads with desert gravel in between and more trees and shrubbery being planted all the time.

Not a lot of shade yet, so you get direct sunlight in the summertime. Be prepared! This is a small price to pay for the fantastic location, which is currently quite remote but the area is developing rapidly. The only downsides are nearby Highway 7 to the south and the small regional airport to the northeast, but the flights and heavy traffic don't typically run late into the night and begin at around 7 am. Not a big deal for us.

They also offer RV storage to guests of the resort, so we left ours behind and will return for it in the Spring. There doesn't appear to be any long-term residents, though monthly rates are available. Park WiFi was actually decent both times, but there are definitely better times to use it than others.

We will be frequent visitors of Desert Canyons RV Resort!

I had 6 nights booked for June 2024, but had to cancel 3 weeks later. Scott was very friendly and personable and went out of his way to (first) ensure we had the right campsite reserved, then, when canceling, was very pleasant and understanding. We both noticed about the same time that my refund hadn't occurred, but he reached out to me first! I hope to be able to rebook in the near future so I can meet this wonderful man. Folks like this are hard to find nowadays.

This Campground has recently come under new ownership and has had many great improvements, including shower and laundry facilities. Right off I-20 near Trent, it's a great location if you're looking for a break from the bigger cities.

This park has some fantastic amenities with plenty of room between sites! The pool and splash pad are now open with more construction and upgrades being completed as we speak. The staff was very friendly and helpful and were happy to go out of their way to ensure our needs were met.

If you're looking for a base camp to set up while you explore the surrounding Texas Hill Country, this is the prime spot! Had we started known better, we would have canceled our stay in Fredericksburg to avoid the crowds and spent the whole week at this park instead.

BTW- the price I paid per night was for a "deluxe waterfront back-in site" and it was worth it!

For starters, the staff was very friendly and helpful, no complaints there. Hookups and room between sites was also satisfactory. Accessing this park and then maneuvering around inside are where my complaints lie. Oh, and their phony two-device WiFi allowance when you pay for 4 guests. That's just dumb.

As stated previously in another review, if you are northbound on I-25 and use exit 108 as most navigation recommends, you find yourself at a single-lane "tunnel" underpass with an overhead clearance of 13' 3" just to gain access to the west side of the interstate. If you have anything close to 13-ft tall, I wouldn't chance it. I had to remerge onto I-25 to take the next exit (110) to the north in hopes of being able to cross over and double back. I was met with ANOTHER single-lane tunnel underpass that was marked at 13' 10" so I took a chance with my 13' 3" rig. The guy who was waiting on the other side said I only had a couple inches and barely made it through. Why these issues are not clearly stated on their website, I do not understand.

Once in the park, I found that all turns and angles within are not very forgiving to my 43-ft 5th wheel. I dare say you need to be under 36' to be able to navigate easily. One-way vs two-way roads are nit well identified, either, so you just kind of have to do your best until you encounter a sign stopping you. It's all dirt roads and width variances don't help any. For what I paid for a night, I definitely expected more.

This park is in a decent location if you can handle the Fredericksburg crowds, but the man who helps manage the park and polices you as you set up is very rude and arrogant. I pull a 43-ft 5th wheel with a long-bed F350 crew cab and they knew this when we booked the site, told us they can easily accommodate us. Site 27 requires either pulling all the way forward or all the way back, barely leaving enough room for the truck and this guy treated me like an idiot because HIS site wasn't any longer. Once set up, I avoided these people and was glad when our stay ended.

I, too, couldn't access their WiFi due to anti-virus software but had decent coverage with Verizon. We didn't use any amenities offered, either. As mentioned by others, the red-gravel pads are not as messy as caliche, but it still sticks to your shoes- especially when wet!

First off, if you are looking to visit Sea World, this is the prime RV park. It's an older park, however, so it's a little tighter than what newer parks are providing and if you have a longer trailer, expect to hone your maneuvering skills pulling in AND out. Note- when they tell you to put your driver tires on the blue line, DO IT. It will make your life much easier.

The staff was friendly enough and left us alone, but it looks like they are catering more and more to long-term renters who are giving the park a trashier appearance. The dumpsters were always overflowing as well. This coupled with the fact that all other San-Antonio-based activities (aside from Sea World) are so far from the park are why we won't stay here again. There is NO "streaming" WiFi available unless you contact and pay a 3rd party and if your carrier is Verizon (as ours is), you are mostly out of luck depending on the time of day.

Vick was very nice and helpful, made sure all our needs were met. This is a very small RV Park and I really wouldn't want to stay longer than a night. The sites are really tight with the picnic tables literally next to the neighboring utilities, so if you're wanting any outdoor time, anticipate very little privacy. All hookups were more than adequate and the park is clean overall.

I have to disagree with many of the low-rated reviews here.

Pros: Upon our arrival, both ladies working were very nice and helpful, this after allowing us to arrive 1.5 hours early. We were escorted to our site and briefed on what we could do if we need anything. Their office hours are longer than most campgrounds I'm aware of, which is nice. We had plenty of room away from other guests, simply due to the layout of the park.

Cons: It can get VERY WINDY! We had in the neighborhood of 40 mph one evening we were there and you could definitely feel it. Also, we were VERY close to HWY 24- so close that we were praying nobody would run off the road and hit us. There is a slight berm with a short stone wall on top, but it won't stop anyone. It is dirt and dust, but not out of control. There are lots of restroom and shower facilities, some of which are brand new, so they are making some improvements. Also, while there are some trashy-looking, permanent RVs, we never felt unsafe by occupants or shady activity. Oh, and don't rely on their weak, unsecured WiFi for anything.

This would never be a 1st choice destination for us, but we would stay here again without hesitation if needed.

This is under new ownership as of April 2022. The new owners (family of mine) are working hard to update and upgrade and will have new contact information posted soon.
