Went here in June to take pictures. I couldn't get in because the place is currently under construction and being guarded. Though I'm sad that I missed my chance, I'm happy that New Orleans is finally repairing the park.
Whoever had the badass idea to shoot it at New Orleans' abandoned Six Flags amusement park, is a genius. You may recall the sad post-Katrina images of this theme park, massively submerged under water.
A buddy and I visited her a while back, it was late at night and we found out that the park is not abandoned but now bing used for filming a lot....the security guard we bumped into on our way out (he didn't know we were in there, we parked outside and jumped the fence but they saw the truck and investigated.) said they had just got done filiming the new planet of the apes movie there...other than that..we lassoed a gater, climbed up on some if the rides and took some pics. Its def a cool experience, creepy at night.

They're currently filming scenes for Jurassic World there, so don't expect to be able to get in anytime very soon.
Dove out there to check it out today, but upon coming up on the back entrance (the front entrance is fenced off) I saw a bunch of cars and trucks in the parking lot, I don't know if it was construction or something being filmed (as a few people have mentioned here). But it was a total bust, it's worth driving by if you're in the area I guess, but it looks as if it's not as vacant as it once was...
In NOLA now, and *reeeeeely* wanted to go- one of my top picks on my bucket list- but just found a blog post with comments, and the most recent comment was by a guy who said he and his friend were *shot at* and had to run out of there across a big parking lot with no cover from the bullets. Whether or not this is true, I decided I really don't want to find out! So sad, wanted to go soooo bad. :-(
We drove by but there was security :(
Hey guys, we tried to go here today and security was waiting! This is a no go zone! Construction as well as rumored more film shoots!
@shena.olone Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters had a few scenes shot in the park in summer 2013.
