“Immersing visitors in an underwater world”
Located on the Mississippi River adjacent to the French Quarter Audubon Aquarium of the Americas immerses you in an underwater world. The colors of a Caribbean reef come alive in our walk-through tunnel, while our penguins and Southern sea otters enchant you with their antics. Touch a sting ray, feed a parakeet, and marvel at our gigantic sharks, tarpon, and rays in the 400,000 gallon Gulf of Mexico Exhibit. Watch for sea turtles throughout the Aquarium—as coordinator of the Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program, we prepare many of them for release to the wild.
Parking is a pain but you'll say that about most attractions in NOLA. We parked as suggested on website got a discount with validation and were happy with the short distance we had to walk. Line was long but efficient. I've been to a lot of aquariums and for the price thought it would be better. IMAX movie is included which is nice. Still worth going to see but adjust your expectations, this is not as good as Atlanta, Charleston or Oklahoma (Jenks).
We got early bird parking several blocks down and took the trolley. $3 for the day. Aquarium was a blast with two small kids. Souvenir shop was affordably priced as well! A couple of exhibits were closed. But the kids had fun. Definitely nice to go in to the ac for a little bit of the day.
This was a pretty neat aquarium. We got the full experience and went to the insecturarium as well. That was truly a unique experience. I’ve been to a lot of states and have done a lot of kid friendly activities but this was truly something I’ve never seen before. They have an insect cafe where you can eat insects in “tasty” treats. The aquarium was very nice too. You can pet sting rays and see a lot of different sea life animals.
Not a lot to see for the price of admission.
Loved this place! We parked across from Harrah's Casino in the tall parking garage. $13 to park for a few hours. So the walk was very nice and short. Great view, it's right along the water! Lovely places to sit and watch boats and eat a snack. Great service at the Aquarium! The greeters, the food court, etc. Everyone was very cheerful. Go kind of early because you'll get to see them feed a bunch of the animals. We got to see the penguins be fed. There's a super cool underwater tunnelway and we lucked out and got to see the stingrays be fed! It was awesome!
Minus the annoying parking situation, the aquarium was a treat. Lots of room to move, great displays, friendly staff.
