“More Than Just a Zoo!”
Audubon Park is an urban oasis in Uptown New Orleans, stretching from St. Charles Avenue to the Mississippi River. Guests travel from near and far to marvel at the century old oak trees, lagoons, and expansive green space designed by the Olmsted. Located in historic Uptown New Orleans Audubon Zoo offers an exotic mix of animals from around the globe, engaging educational programs, hands-on animal encounters and lush gardens. Unique natural habitat exhibits—such as the award-winning Louisiana Swamp and Jaguar Jungle—showcase the relationship between people and nature. Don't miss the sea lion and elephant presentations; highly endangered whooping cranes, Amur leopards and orangutans; white tigers Rex and Zulu; and our mysterious white alligators. Audubon Zoo is often ranked among the country’s best for innovation and entertainment value! All Audubon attractions - Aquarium, Insectarium, IMAX & Zoo - open at 10:00AM 6 days weekly, Tuesday through Sunday. We are closed on Mondays!
As someone who has lived in New Orleans for a couple of years and who is pretty seasoned in traveling, this is more of a local attraction for those with kids or for Tulane students. I wouldn't recommend this for visitors looking for a "real New Orleans experience". It's quite expensive and it's just like any other zoo in the country. Nothing remarkable, nothing exclusive. However, if you have kids and they want to visit the zoo, then go right ahead! I would say that if you're looking for the must-dos in the city, you would be better off visiting the free Audubon Park, literally right across the street.
Very nice zoo with a lot of oak trees for shade. Great variety of animals and attractions. Wholesome family entertainment at its best!
Really nice clean place
Kids from Hugh school teaching the visitors was great
I wish the train ride wasn't 5$ and the exhaust didn't smell so bad
But really happy
