Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on August 09, 2023Nice campground with good views of lake. I was here Apr 2, 2018 before the season, so no reservations needed or fees. Didn't use the bathrooms so I don't know if they were open. Very quiet, since I was the only one here. I had to use 2 layers of leveling blocks but there was room for both my trailer and pickup without unhooking. Edit: I stayed here 5/29/18. Still quiet but train tracks not too far off. Only about 5 others camping. Good Verizon and ATT was ok. Bathrooms and showers were reasonably clean. Couldn't get any hot water in the shower after running the water for a couple of minutes to test it out. Nice but older playground equipment, including a good volleyball court.

Stayed here in early March so no fees/no services. However, would have been happy to pay minimal fees at this corps of engineers site. Short hiking trail nearby and beautiful views of the lake. Plenty of trains nearby, which seem to slack off in overnight hours.

Non-hookup sites are $14 per night. Hookups are $20 or $22. The non-hookups are on the shore while the rest are up the hill so you have to choose the lake or the convenience. Trains went by blaring their horns all night long. It was also a heatwave and I thought being near the water would help. It didn’t. No breezes at all. The drive to the park is a long, circuitous route from the freeway.

Beautiful park, lake and trail
Pulled in for an overnight headed east.
Easy access off I35
Site 5 backs up to the nature trail, nice little trail that goes out to the lake.
Electric and water included for the fee
Grounds are clean and well maintained
Leash laws are enforced by camp hosts
Two consistent bars of Verizon, sometimes three.
Trains do run through the night, if you’re a light sleeper they may bother you.

When we arrived the office was closed - and that’s ok; our reservation was attached to the electrical box The entire campground was neat and tidy. Flush uni-sex restroom clean. Fabulous view. Easy off I-35 access. We went through the town of Malvern to get here - and our advice is bring what ya need ‘cause there’s nothing to speak of in Melvern.
We drove across the dam to the north side of the lake to Eisenhower State Park - where I stood on Omaha Beach!
We not only would do another one-night stop-over at Coeur d’Alene ACE campground again, we’d like to come back for a longer stay.
This campground is very close to a very busy rail line - it didn’t bother us, but for those it might you might want to stay at one of the other area campgrounds farther from the line.

This is a beautiful campground! Sites are well marked, semi-level with plenty of space in between. When we pulled in around 6:30, it was getting dark so we found a pull-thru space since we were just staying for the night. There was no signage stating the campground was closed and no place to submit a camping fee. We were the only people there so it was obviously very quiet.
We had no hook-ups, all utilities were turned off and I imagine the bathrooms were locked but we didn’t check and confirm.
As we were departing the following day, we flagged down a caretaker asking where to pay the camping fee. We were told the campground closed the end of September and he didn’t ask us to submit a payment, FREE camping! We’ll add this campground to our favorites because it has lots of trees and beautiful views of Lake Melvern. I’m sure it gets very busy during the summer!

We were traveling in our van mid February. It’s a short trip from interstate 35. We arrived before dark and the place was empty. Bathrooms were locked which I expected as it is off season. The road is paved and easy to maneuver for any size rigs. There are gates but they were all open. It’s built on a hill that slopes to the water and most spots are not level, but you can find some that are. Some sites are paved, most have a rock pad but ones near the water can be mushy. Many were littered with Orange Osage bulbs/nuts…Remember this is Feb so this may not be the case for others. There is a 1/2 mile trail that takes you along the water near the marina and a levy that you can walk out on in low water. Don’t wear good shoes though as the trail can be soft and muddy depending on what time of year it is. It was very quiet but did hear a train at one point and occasional jake-breaking from the highway but hardly noticeable. Picnic tables and grills were available at most sites. Despite the sloped sites we will definitely return if we are ever in this area again.
