While staying a couple of nights at the nearby Payson Lakes Campground, we scouted several of the dispersed camping sites found along the Nebo Loop Road. We liked this one best. It had one of the better dirt roads into the site, and lots of relatively flat, open space for any size of rig.

We stayed a couple of week nights and only left because the power system in our rig wasn’t working and the Fall nights were getting too cold for our comfort (close to freezing with no heater wasn’t fun.) Otherwise we would have loved to stay another week.

While there we were the only ones, but when scouting the location over the weekend we did see about 3 or 4 rigs camping. But the area is large enough that you will likely find a nice spot even on a weekend. We were there during hunting season and did have a couple of hunters park nearby early in the morning and again in the evening. We couldn’t hear road noise at all.

Even though our power system wasn’t working right, the area has great sun exposure for solar.

The nearest dump station is in the town of Payson.

The only negative was driving the Payson canyon to get there in our 41 foot toy hauler. The road is narrow with several tight switch back turns. There were also lots of cows on the road. So the drive was slow and stressful. Be sure to look ahead for others speeding around the hair pin turns.

But the drive is worth it. There are several great hiking trails, and for a small fee you can fish at one of the Payson Lakes.

There must be an ATT tower nearby because we had 2 bars of LTE. And with our cell booster we were getting 4 bars and 20mbps download speeds! Our Verizon Jetpack got zero reception—even with the cell booster.

We also took a drive on the Nebo Loop, stopping at the overlooks. It’s absolutely beautiful!

We stayed here for 1 night on our way South. It was easy to get to from I15. The host was friendly, sites are flat/gravel with partial shade, picnic table, grass, and a fire pit. Very pet friendly with a nice off leash area for our dog. Water was turned off at our site for the season but water was available for us to top off our tanks as we came in and as we pulled out. 2-3 bars AT&T and Verizon 4G LTE

Perfect place to spend a quick night. It was a little noisy from the nearby truck stop and highway. Our site was huge, all gravel, level, tree, and a picnic table. Management was friendly and welcoming. We used our Good Sam discount and got our night for around $30.

Most important information first:
- Nebo Loop drive is beautiful but the drive has mountainous switchbacks so driving a long rig is tricky
- $23 per night and no discount for America the Beautiful pass
- no hookups but drinkable water available at all vault bathrooms (RVs not permitted to fill their tanks with these connections)
- picnic table and fire pit at every camp site
- bathrooms were clean and well maintained
- No sewer dump available
- large trash dumpster available
- lots of beautiful pine and aspen trees make shade easy to find but maneuvering large vehicles tricky, and solar exposure patchy.
- 3 loops with a variety of sized sites for lots of different camping. Some are pull through. Everything is paved but not all the sites are level and we were unable to find many that worked for our large 41 foot toy hauler.
- camp host was kind and helpful
- Pet friendly

We camped here late September. Loop B was shutdown for the season so we found a nice pull through spot on loop C. Unfortunately, we were asked to relocate after our second night because they wanted to shutdown loop C for the season. So we decided to leave and go up the road to a large dispersed camping area that we had found (much more open for our solar panels and better cell reception for AT&T) just across from Lumber Road. We would have enjoyed staying longer at Payson Lakes but Loop A seemed problematic for our large rig.

During our stay, we really enjoyed a beautiful walk around Big East Lake. The walk was fully paved (perfect for my wife’s electric wheelchair) and the fall leaves were lovely. Lots of families and fishermen were there enjoying the day.
I highly recommend this campground but maybe not for extra big rigs like ours (maybe Loop B would work, but we didn’t get to drive it to see).

Very kind staff. We were parked in a pull through site that made everything very simple. Water pressure dropped one evening but other than that, everything was as expected. No fire pit, but there was a small picnic table. Amenities were all closed due to Covid.
Lots of restaurants very close by.

Relatively flat, well lit, and large parking lot right before you cross over Hoover Dam. Not too noisy. We called ahead to get permission. The staff was friendly and asked us to park by the helicopter pad on the far end. (Last entrance) plenty of room to turn our big rig around and be backed in and ready to roll in the morning. The staff also asked us to check in at the front desk for security which was easy. Gorgeous view of Lake Mead when the sun came up.

We stayed here right before Bryce re-opened (Covid2020) so the campground was 90% empty. It was heaven! Our site was big, flat, shaded, a picnic table, and a rough fire pit. Staff was friendly. Lots of walking trails and a little lake. Ruby’s Inn has a lot to offer that was shut down for the pandemic like swimming, shops, and restaurants. Very big rig friendly but also accommodating to groups, renters, ATVers...you name it! We will be back when the park is open, but I suspect we will miss the solitude of isolation (can’t have everything 😉).
