Absolutely amazing! The US side of the falls is worth the trip! Lots to do and see even though everyone says Canada side is better and maybe it is but we did maid of the mist tour and saw the whole thing up close and boy was it was intense! Hindsight, rain boots would’ve been nice in as we choose to go on the upper deck for the full experience and our feet got pretty wet which would’ve been fine if it were warm outside however it was very cold BUT still worth it! Seeing a picture is intriguing but seeing it in real life is epic.

Some hotels were were considering for next time was Red Coach Inn which is RIGHT by the falls…walk out the door and cross street on you’re on the walkway. Another option we are considering would be the Sheraton as well because of all the restaurants, Starbucks and arcade on the ground level of the hotel especially if it’s cold outside. That would be nice to have those things to choose from to do without having to brave the cold again.

We have been very pleased with our stay. The staff has been very friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself is very clean and up to date.

The building and architecture was off the charts. So intricate and elaborate! The tour is definitely worth the time because they really do go over all the little details that you wouldn’t otherwise know if you did the self guided option. Highlights for us, governors hall, the flag room and the senate assembly, the stairways and various hallways just to name a few!

Heads up if it’s your first time, go to visitor parking because the GPS wants to take you to the front of the building so we had to do a big loop around as it’s a one way. Also, the building connects to museums, library’s, convention center, the egg ect…that being said, once you get off the elevators, follow the signs (on the ceiling) to the actual state capitol building. It took us a moment to catch our bearings because it’s like a little city in there with restaurants, barber shop, gift shops ect. Plus they had vendors set up with tables so lots going on the day we went. Worth the trip for sure!

We really enjoyed our tour. Our guide Tom was very informative and knowledgeable. Definitely learned a lot about the history and the inner workings of the ship. He even knew about the submarine in the museum of science and industry in Chicago which has a connection to the USS Slater. Very impressed
