We showed up at Gerstle Cove and we not immediately impressed by the campsites then we found the overflow lot and immediately moved the camper. One of the most amazing camp spots I've ever seen and probably ever will.
Hwy 1 to get there is pretty hairy so beware! Narrow with large pot holes and no guard rail but if you're up for the challenge it's well worth it.

Stopped here on my way to CO. I was surprised by how nice it was. Good views! In the middle of the night there were some dune buggy racing happening which was pretty obnoxious but hopefully that isn't a regular occurance.

Stop on our way to Jackson Hole from CA. It's pretty much exactly half way.
Small campground, lots of kids and families, the lake was pretty low but still beautiful.
Showed up on a Saturday afternoon and got the last spot.

Small and right on the beach. One of the best places I've stayed.

Stayed here to meet a larger group on a longer road trip. It was the only proper campground we said in, which initially scared me as we are more boondockers but this campground we great.
Some of the sites are on top of each other but other are nice and the site we stayed at was covered with noise from the creek across the street.
This is the first campground among MANY on the same road and all the locations are great. I would stay here again.

The park is packed on the weekend but clears out pretty early, the site we had was great.
Right on the water, beach access, really beautiful. The first day it was windy but the 2nd day it was perfect.
I would definitely recommend, especially mid-week.

Pretty nice, not the greatest but definitely worth a go. Has GREAT hiking trails out of the campground but unfortunately we forgot dogs aren’t allowed on state park trails so we couldn’t do the fern trail which is why we went. Easy walkable access to the ocean.

Stopped here on the way to wyoming. No trailer just us but it was quiet and beautiful. Camp hosts were great. Showed up late at night and they happily pointed me too the nearly open site!

Amazing setting! In the redwoods with access to the River. Beach is a 3 minute drive. Great place for kids but BEWARE if you’re not interested in kids or big family gatherings. I think 90% of sites were occupied by families!
