The gate stays open so you don’t have to worry about late check-in concerns. The rangers drive through the the park around 7-7:30 am to see who has arrived and they just ask you to check in at the station after 8:15 am. In addition to the rangers, there’s also a camp host that sells fire wood.
Everyone was super friendly, there wasn’t a lot of trash around, the bathrooms were clean and it wasn’t overly loud, considering how full the place was. You can hear a horn off in the distance, as well as seals, but it wasn’t loud or annoying.
My favorite part was that even though camp sites are close to each other, it didn’t feel crowded. And there are two beach areas where dog are allowed off-leash. My pup wasn’t a fan of the ocean, however.

Beautiful area! The beach was so nice and the sunset was lovely. The campground is set up so that most sites have some privacy between them but....the coastguard is in the back end...engines all night. And there's a horn that beeps about every 30 seconds ... Constantly. Earplugs were no help. Sound machines may be better.

This is a nice campground to enjoy as a quiet coastal getaway. We were there in early April and the weather was cool - to cold, and windy, but it was also beautiful. Before arriving I was concerned that our campsite had a big tree at the back of it, but it turned out to be a blessing because it allowed great protection from the wind and were one of the few campsites on the Jetty that could sit outside during the heaviest wind. #91 is also right across from the off-leash doggy beach- so the pup was very happy. Nice camp host, nice campers - great beach walking or trail walking - all dog friendly. We just switched our rig from a 24' Class C - to a 32' Toy hauler - and our site was 44' long -perfect. Highly recommend going - we didn't explore too much on bikes due to the wind - but my Husband went into Marin to Mt. Bike ride. There is a $2.00 a day fee for dogs- no utilities, but a dump.

Doran is my go to Beach camping spot in Sonoma County. Clean, easy access, nice Park Rangers, and always great Sunsets! The weather (as with any Beach campsite) can change rapidly, but I still would highly recommend this County Campsite. Bring warm clothing and firewood! You can also purchase some from the camp hosts for $10.00 dollars a sack.

Although the park is full, it’s quiet. Love listening to the waves, birds and foghorn. Short walk to the clean bathrooms. It’s usually overcast in June but the sun broke through while we were here.

Doran is straddled between the ocean and bodega bay. Shell campground is cloverleaf shaped so sites are close together. Easy walks to beach and ocean. Sites are level. Short drive to bodega bay. This is a favorite camp site. Dump station is very busy on Sundays.

This was our first time at Doran Regional Park. We stayed in the Shell campground site 10. The area was quiet except for the fog horn sounding a G# note every minute or so which wasn’t a problem. We will definitely be back as this was a great spot to hang out. We were en route elsewhere so only stayed 1 night. There are no hookups but plenty of sun for solar setups. There is a cell tower right at there at the park and data speeds were phenomenal on AT&T

We got really lucky by scoring a spot that must have just been cancelled because everyone around us said they had to book a year in advance. Worth it, though! A county-run campground on a spit of land jutting into Bodega Bay. Wonderful for kids. Every site backs to some sort of open space, whether they are dunes, beach, bay, etc. Sites are well spaced. Roads nicely paved for kids to cruise on. Beach/water on both sides. Water was flat when we were there, but there's supposedly decent surf on the south side. There's an off-leash dog beach about a 3-minute walk from our site. Each campground loop has a water fill spigot, trash and recycling. Dump station for the whole campground is a one minute drive away. No wifi but solid cell signal whole time (T-Mobile). Lax enforcement of generator quiet hours but spaces were far enough apart that it was eventually easy to tune out. There are minimal services in the area, it is fairly remote feeling, so come well stocked with groceries, gas, propane, and batteries charged.

We enjoyed our stay at site 87, in the Jetty campsite area, midweek in January. It's an easy drive from Highway 101. Our perfectly level site backs to Bodega Harbor with front row seats to kick back and watch the commercial fishing boats coming back in with their hauls of fish and crab and watch fabulous sunsets! A one minute walk from the campground is the miles long beach along Bodega Bay. A great spot to stay for a single night in transit or to settle in for several days. We had perfect reception to zoom in to meetings via the free wifi. After sunset, the campground was quiet during January. The bathrooms in the campground were adequately clean, but the day use area restrooms could use more frequent cleaning. It can be very windy here, so don't count on a campfire if winds are forecast. We are regular campers at Bodega Dunes (a State Park across the harbor from Doran Campground); Doran Campground is a very different but equally enjoyable experience and we will return.

This is a great little campground if you can get a spot. It is booked year round but we got a spot due to a last minute cancelation. Our site was spacious and we did not feel crowded in despite having neighbors on each side. This is a very dog-friendly campground, they even have an off-leash dog beach along the jetty campground. A word of warning though, the dump station is a bit tight to maneuver in an out of. We have a toy hauler and some of the tree branches were a bit low and the turns were tight for a 27' trailer.
