enjoyed it- quiet, space to spread out, rock fire rings. up against the mountains, the state park is just up the road- nice hike up into the head spring in the canyon. convenient to town and white sands

Be aware that Washington Ranch rd intersects with HWY 62 in TWO places (makes a huge loop). The west entrance is right at the NM/TX border- you do NOT want to enter here (we did!)- you can't get to the CG from here. You want the Washington Ranch Rd off HWY 62 further towards Carslbad (east) which will also have the brown state signs pointing for "Rattlesnake Springs" and "cottonwood day use area" and a big red sign for "Washington Ranch Event site for weddings/etc...", this is a paved road and the rock CG road turns off to the right a couple hundred yds down.

quite a drive down a long small sandy road to get here- big puddles after a rain but the surface underneath is firm, a quiet and beautiful spot on the river that was worth the drive to stay put for a few days. lots of room at end to maneuver and park. good cell coverage.

loved it!, the CG itself is plain, but there is a quirky eclectic community in Fort Clark Springs where the RV park is. It's an unusual HOA on 2500 historic acres with many historical buildings- like a little living museum, amazing trails network and old growth trees along a large spring fed creek oasis, golf, a massive spring fed swimming pool (no chemicals!). Make sure to drive/walk back to "red bridge park"- a hidden gem of old tree grove along the river. There are ongoing community events that RVrs are welcome to (get the weekly schedule on check in)- you are wrapped right into the community, I joined in the potluck followed by cards, then crafts the next day, large community fire pit.
good sam discount

great spot on the river, super clean and easy. with the only issue being there is a fairly loud pump/engine that runs almost 24hr a day over by the adjacent park building next to boat ramp- not sure it it's a temporary/seasonal thing or always going? For me it negatively affects what would otherwise be very quiet and peaceful spot. Other than that noise it was great site. verizon was 1-2 bars
