We stayed for three days at Villanueva State Park in December. There were very few other people camping and hence it was quiet and we were able to enjoy the beautiful canyon. There are a couple of nice hiking trails around which our dogs loved.
Unfortunately, we did not have any cell service with Verizon. The other thing that was a bit of a bummer: the state park will be closed off around 7pm and you will not be able the enter it with a vehicle past that time. We came back from a dinner later than 7pm, so we had to leave our car outside the park and walk to our campsite.
Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Villanueva and would come back here.

We stayed here on our way to New Mexico and really enjoyed it. There are 5 back-in spots right by the water. Our 14 ft trailer plus tow vehicle fit comfortably. Larger rigs will fit but the vehicle will have to be parked separately. There are clean restrooms with showers a short walk away. Decent cell service with Verizon, too.

Arrived on a Thursday afternoon and about half the campsites were taken. We found a nice spot that easily fit our 14” travel trailer plus tow vehicle. The only thing that was sketch was the very narrow residential road leading up to it. Larger rigs will have troubles getting through.

We stayed at Holly River State Park for a long weekend with a couple of friends and our dogs.

The campground has a total of 88 sites but they are divided in sections. Sites 29-38 and 39-48 are closest to the river with some sites being directly on the river, so I would recommend booking one of those.
The sites are decently level, have a fire pit and picnic table and most of them have electric hook ups. A water spigot is available in proximity of most campsites. There are toilets and showers and the campground does offer free WiFi.
The campsites are mostly back-in sites for smaller to medium-sized rigs but there are some bigger sites that can accommodate large rigs.

The state park itself is well-maintained and from the looks of it can be busy during peak seasons but we stayed off-season and had a great time. The Holly River is gorgeous and there are a variety of hiking trails in the state park that can be easily reached by foot from the campground. We would definitely come back here again!
