Mike and Alice are wonderful people offering up their farmland for people to boondock for free. Or, if you’d like hookups, they have a few spots available for cheap.
There’s a couple things you should know. You’ll be sharing the field with horses, donkeys and goats. They’re very bold and will approach you. But they’re very friendly. But it’s not unusual to have a donkey nose right at your screen door regularly.
Also, the field is pretty solid ground, but not very absorbant. If it rains, there will be puddles. If it rains for several days…you’ll have difficulty getting to your car without a good set of rubber boots. In fact, we had to hitch up at the end of 2 and a half days of rain. I was grateful to have a 4x4. Not that i really needed it, but I certainly could have.
But overall, a unique and fun camping experience.

Beautiful views with plenty of room for many rigs to spread out. The field is very easy to access right of of North Fork Rd.
However, there are currently two very old run-down campers in the back of the field with families living in them. Their generators run day and night. Their dogs run free all day and bark, causing other dogs to bark and howl. It looks like law enforcement has put orange stickers on the rigs, but… they’re still here!

There are few places more beautiful to camp than on the original Ingalls Homestead. They have only 4 sites available, but here’s a secret...they let you dry-camp in the parking lot for only $10
That’s not printed anywhere on their website, they told us this on the phone And we were the only ones down on the lot near the grass with our own picnic table and fire pit, far away from the other RVs. Once the tourists are gone and the sun begins to set, the stars come out and the fireflies put on a show.

Our family comes here every year, both for camping as well as just day trips for the beach.
The campground is “primitive”, but they have a dump station on the way out. If you have anything bigger than a large pop-up, you may want to stick to the sites on the perimeter roads of each section. The inner roads are very narrow with huge old pine trees to navigate through. Though I did bring my 26’ TT to site 8 area 1 once. Very tight fit.
The beach on White Lake is one of the best lake beaches you’ll ever see. Beautiful sandy Lake bottom and no deep drop-offs. The beach area itself has trees for shade, picnic tables, and charcoal grills. As well as two well-kept playgrounds and a small store with beach stuff and treats
This is a very popular campground and beach, so plan ahead.

Middle of nowhere. The road coming in has serious curves and switchbacks and is pretty narrow. But I was able to tow a 37’ 5th wheel up there. And that’s about the biggest rig you’ll get in there. Site 14 was able to fit us, but most of the sites could not have. NO INTERNET. You’ll get absolutely no cell reception and the trees are very tall and dense, so starlink was a no-go as well.

Wonderful Owners were very accommodating and charming. This place is very conveniently located close to I-90, but far enough off the highway that you don’t hear a lot of noise. Any size rig could get in here, the roads are very well maintained and the sites are gravel. Only negative is that the Pull-thru sites are pretty close together Your picnic table is right next to your neighbor’s hook-ups. And the lawn areas get swampy when it rains a lot.
Overall, I’d certainly come back. We just used this as a stopover on our way to the Black Hills, and it’s great for that.
