This is the more remote and rustic of the campgrounds in Stokes State Forest. Great for tents and small/medium RVs. No hookups or dump station. Pit toilets. There is an artesian spring that supplies excellent potable water from a faucet. A 5 minute drive to Ocquittunk campground for a free hot shower. Most sites are partial or full shade, large and well separated. Some sites have wooden tent platforms. We were the only people here Tue thru Thurs in mid Oct, then it was fully booked for the weekend.

There is a little noise from air traffic and occasional road noise from Crigger Rd, but mostly very quiet and peaceful.

Do not rely on Google Maps for directions around here. Recommend to navigate to the intersection of Grau Rd and Crigger Rd, then drive South on Crigger 100 yds to the campground entrance.

There is a lot of great hiking nearby in Delaware Water Gap NRA. The AT runs through Stokes as well. My only complaint is that most trailheads are 30-50 minutes drive from here.

27 sites, all First Come. Never more than 7 other sites occupied during the week we stayed in late March. Sites on outside of loop are pull thru, inside of loop are back in. Western bluebirds and Western meadowlarks outside our windows every day. So much to see and do within 30 minute drive. Several hiking/biking/horse trails right from campground, and lots more hiking in Lincoln NF. Southern NM has been chilly and very windy this time of year, which limited our hiking. Would definitely come back to do more.

Gave it an extra star for proximity to Cuyahoga Valley NP, bargain price for a site with electric hookups, quiet setting and helpful hosts. No road noise, other campers very considerate. Sites are grass or overgrown gravel. Semi-level. Site #1 was very difficult to level a 24 ft trailer and full sun. Site #4 was much better and full shade. There is also a wooded walking trail network on the east and North sides of the campground.

Campground was mostly empty in mid Nov. Very quiet and peaceful. Sites have reasonable separation for some degree of privacy, even though all are close to the roads. No hookups or dump station. The showers are cold and not fully enclosed. There is a 1/3 mile long boardwalk and sandy path to the beach, which is beautiful. Only complaint were the sand spurs that stuck to our shoes, clothes, bike tires, etc. and were painful to remove.

We took our trailer on the free ferry from Hatteras to Ocracoke Island for our next stop. Be sure to monitor weather forecasts before and during your stay here, as Atlantic storms can be serious.

Beautiful views in every direction. Trailheads for 2 hikes from the upper loop CG. No problem pulling our 24 ft TT into the CG, although less than half of the sites in the upper loop (sites 1-32) would be large enough for us to fit. Sites 33-55 in the lower loop are only good for tents and vans, and very unlevel. Unfortunately, if you drive to the lower loop and do not find a suitable site, you have to drive about 4 miles around the 1-way park loop to get back to the upper loop CG.

Site 29 is a spacious spot on the end with a very nice view of live oak and long leaf pine trees. Sites on the outside of loop 1-10 are also spacious. Most other sites are close together without much privacy between. Nice hot showers.
We loved this campground as a base for excursions to the many nearby destinations for hiking, biking on the paved Withlacoochee State Trail, kayaking at Crystal River with the manatees and at Rainbow Springs. Also many miles of equestrian trails in the state forest. Verizon service with phones was 0-1 bar and not usable for data. Usable with a cellular router.

Rangeley Lake is one of our favorite areas for its beauty, good hiking nearby, kayaking and peacefulness. The state park does a good job of preserving what we love.

Arrived here after the reservation season ended, so all sites were FF, with most sites available on a Tuesday. All sites are large and private. About half the sites inside the loop have electric and water. We chose site 17 on the water side with no hookups and loved it. There was a 50 ft path from the back of our site to the shore where we could launch our kayak, and we used it every calm day we weren't hiking. Also a perfect spot to watch the sunsets across the lake. Lots of shade, so our solar couldn't keep up.

Showers were clean, hot and free. The whole campground is very well cared for. No mosquitoes in mid September! Very little noise from motor boats this time of year.

A classic Adirondack NY state campground on Fourth Lake. Large sites in a dense tall pine forest. No electric hookups and mostly deep shade, so don't count on solar. There are 2 modern shower houses and numerous older flush toilet stations. Sites have fire pit and picnic table. Although the sites are large, the loop roads are very narrow and tree-lined We were ok with a 24 ft TT, but not big rig friendly. Very little road noise, but there is a tourist rodeo show nearby that blasts loudspeakers in the evenings. 30 minutes drive to the Lake George attractions and hikes.

Overall, we loved the peaceful forest setting as well as proximity to Lake George area.

Scouted here to check whether we wanted to move our 24 ft TT from nearby Lily Bay SP. First thing we saw was a large political flag with an obscene slogan flying above a sign with instructions to check in with camp hosts. Ugh. About 6 other campers there, most with cluttered sites and appeared to have been there for more than the 2 week limit. The 38 sites are numbered, in mostly open space, and lined with large rocks around the sides. A few sites are right on the lake shore. No privacy between sites. Google satellite view gives a clear picture. The road here is pretty far down logging roads, far from any hiking or other activities, so this would mainly appeal to folks who are boating and fishing. Even then, it's pretty sketchy.
