OFF-Season favorite!
SP next to NF - lots to do ... or nothing at all. The area is beautiful with forests and rock formations. We were passing through and caught a lot of fisherman, canoes, bikers and hikers. The scenery is quite pleasant and scattered with wildlife from Moose to Coyotes to Chipmunks. Check into the visitor center - a friendly group who enjoy their area.

As others mentioned - the sites are varied. Grouped for views, some were muddy, some had water access - none had privacy or shade. Our van was parked on the tip of a jetty at waterside. In season, it could be a challenge to find a happy spot. There seemed to be heavy equipment around - so it may improve. Vault toilets were reasonably clean - our area had no water or hookups. (Granite Point) Picnic table and fire pit about 100feet to bathroom.

The serenity and beauty makes it a keeper.

We were there on a Rainy Thursday night - not much to talk about. Good location. A 3.5 stay.

The facilities seem like an old camp, the sites are lined up under the trees and around water. Expect muddy paws and shoes - but it didn’t affect our stay.
Probably a fun place with kids….lots of families laughing around us!!!

It was clean and convenient.

We stopped over to sleep on a long drive - it is an open space removed from downtown. It hosts lots of shorelines and marsh for walking and sea bird viewing - eagles, egrets, storks ... a play structure for kids and trails for walkers. (We travel with a dog.)

The staff was great - after hours security staff had our reso ready and helped us find our spot through the maze in the dark.

It was mentioned that this is s recoveing campsite - it is... but they keep it clean and as well-tended as possible. It could use new paint and some updating - but the hookups were great and the new fire rings were fun. So, it will continue to improve.

Caveats: sorry to mention that it is near enough to a naval base to hear their grunting engines all night.
Also, its probably seasonal - but our pants, and dog, were covered with painful goatheads just from our site. Enough that we drove to the bathroom in the morning so, not to walk on the site again.

Again - great shoreline, great staff, clean and active location with many settled in campers ... we just hit it on the wrong season.

Well- manicured, managed and a bit of privacy outside of Toledo.

Exceptionally clean facilities and delightful cement paths through 1336 acre nature sanctuary off Lake Erie.

Not a dark sky and there are some city rumblings ... mixed in with birds and critter calls.

Many big RVs are tucked in ... and we were very comfortable in our small van. All sites have electric.

Pets on leashes and enough privacy for comfort.

Delightful stay on the water...one night.
Easy off of Rt 80.

Clean facilities and showers- pets on leash. Cement path around lake for morning stroll. Herons, swallows, eagle, rabbits, deer ...

Sites are very tight - no privacy....off season was lovely. Tucked next to State Park with lots to do....big RVs we’re settled and a separate area for tenters.

Yes we’d stay on this oasis again.
Bring a canoe and bike.

We drove 8 hours and totally appreciated the peaceful water view and spotless facilities. The staff couldn’t be nicer.

****take exit 41 off 77South -then follow signs. (The GPS wants to veer you down dirt roads on a different exit!)

Site 3 / Riverside- lots of space on water.
In the woods….. Variety of spaces for big rigs and little … some private, some not so. Lots of campers with boats.

*We were there on a Thursday and told that it’s a popular local’s destination on weekends.
Pet friendly.

We read the reviews and agree completely. Great staff, beautiful natural settings, clean facilities, hot showers, close to town and lends to a friendly and safe stay.

It was NewYear's Eve and, by luck, we got an opening for our 19 foot van. The hookups are basic electric and city water spigot. The spots for larger RVs abound and each campsite is surrounded by natural tree canopies - just enough privacy for an overnight or longer. Book early - it's always full....if you drive in after 1pm, there might be a lucky cancellation.

Very subtlety, it provides several playgrounds for kids, nature trails for walkers and dogs, wide open oceanfront and dunes. The concession owners are helpful and filled with ideas. There was a NYE fireworks display seen from the ocean and many campers trekked to see it - after which we all wished each other well and tucked into a quiet night. (Or maybe the trees are great sound barriers?)

Seasonally, there is a restaurant on site with boat rentals.

Overall - exactly what an RVer could wish for @ state park rates.
Now, one of our favorites!

We agree with all the previous reviews - it is the newest NP and they are still processing the changes from Nat'l Lakeshore to Nat'l Park. It is very close to the State Park ($29) - so be sure that you are in the right one. Beaches, hikes and gas is just a drop away.

Charmingly tucked into heavy woods also brings bugs and humidity. Not unbearable - but be ready. Also keep an eye out for poison ivy. It's very convenient as said. The bathrooms and showers were clean with a good work sink and recycling options. Enough space for privacy, no hookups and good staff.

The highlights were the people and their stories as it is a real walkers pathway.
If you have time - stop by the "Century of Progress" Exhibit by the lakeshore ... architecture from 1930's world's fair....and of course, the lakeshore.
