We were one of 8 campers so we all had lakeside spots. Off season camping was quiet but I’m sure in the summer this place is hopping with people using the lake. Water and electric at all sites. Dump station is located on the road entering the CG but before the office so you could use it without paying. 3 bathrooms dispersed throughout the CG but we didn’t use them so can’t comment. The sites are spread out nicely and I’m sure when the trees are leafed out they provide nice privacy. Any size rig could fit in some of the spots. Lots of squirrels which were very friendly. Only drawback for us is that T-mobile was hit or miss. Would definitely stay again.

We liked this place. Sites are very level. The camp sites are in a round path - but dispersed and staggered where you don't appear to be nose to nose with other campers or vehicles. The sites, odd numbered 9 - 21 are directly on the lake side. Nice wooded area.
You are miles from any services, except for the single marina outside the campground. Check out the Lake Wateree Baptist Church on Sunday, adjacent to the marina building. Great place.

Nice campground on Lake Wateree with waterfront and wooded sites. Campers bring their boats and tie up below the waterfront sites. The Lake can be busy at times with fishermen and the campground often has lots of families and children. It is a nice place to camp a little over an hour from Charlotte NC with good level asphalt sites. Cell service is poor except at lakeside sites.

I think Lake Wateree State Park should host a conference here and invite State Park staffs from around the US. They can show others how it's done. Level, paved, deep and wide sites. We groomed grounds and probably the cleanest, modern bath houses we have encountered.
Sounds like I am whining a bit, the only issue I have encountered and it's personal to me only so I would still give than a perfect score. The showers are little shallow and only have a stool to dress with and the shower heads are geared for those about 5' 10" or so. I am 6'5" so I cam kinda used to it.
GREAT PARK.

Lake Wateree State Park, located just north of Columbia, SC has now served as our home base on a few occasions. While not as convenient as Sesquicentennial State Park, it offers some quality improvements. Among those are very large paved back in and pull thru sites which we are easily able to get our 40 foot 5th wheel, tow vehicle and second vehicle in, leaf litter outside rather than just sand, a beautiful hiking trail, and quick access to Lake Wateree itself. However, there are some specific drawbacks to this state park as well. Check out our blog for more details along with a video of the area and a drive thru of the park and campground.

This is our 3rd stay here, our son lives in Ermo, SC. Bathrooms were clean. Sites were clean. Accessibility was great and our site worked for our 40 Motorhome. Cell service was minimal to none on 39. The park was at capacity but you only knew it if you walked it. For the last night we moved to Site 9 because the park emptied out on Sunday. Cell service on site 9 was 2 to 3 bars ATT.

We stayed 2 nights in the Riverside Campground in December. The park is entirely paved and really easy to drive around even with a big rig. The spots are perfectly positioned for backing in (there are also several pull thru spots) and mostly level. We had a waterfront spot and it was beautiful. We were able to walk along a the beach and enjoy the wildlife. They have a cute store with lots of souvenirs (and bait!), a dock and boat fueling station, and a 2.35 mile trail. We always stop in South Carolina on our way up north and I booked our next two trips here because we loved it so much. They have a new campground (Taylor Creek) with full hookups but closer together like a private park. I recommend both the campgrounds.

We stayed at the older of the two campgrounds, Riverside. The newer one, Taylor’s Creek, does have sewer, but no shade and hence no privacy. Riverside is very pretty with all the tall trees. It does have a lot of sites though and it did feel crowded. If we had reserved a lake front spot there was a three night minimum, so we reserved the next closest space that was not considered lake front (31). We did have a view of the lake, if we walked to the back of the wooded site. There is a 20 foot cliff down to the water, so there’s no easy access to fish. Also, a negative to that site was the viewing area for the lake with a couple of benches was basically on our site. A number of people walked through our site to get to them and the sat for a while. While they were nice folks, it was somewhat annoying that we had to “share”’our space with the rest of the campground. The park is very remote. So definitely come prepared. It’s a 50 minute drive to Camden, the closest large town. Cell service (Verizon) was almost none. We could text and voice call, but not use data for anything.

Riverside Campground was excellent. We've camped here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The staff is great and the campground and facilities are always very clean and well maintained. We camped during the week (Mon-Fri) and the campground less than half full....was very quiet. Early morning sunrises across the lake were spectacular. My only criticism is that I wish Verizon cell coverage would have been better. We generally had 1-2 bars of coverage (mostly one). Call and text coverage was adequate, but during peak usage periods, emails and other internet use was very spotty. Even so, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
