Anastasia state park has got to have some of the best sites of any campground we have ever stayed at. Many spacious private sites are available and all include water and electric for just $28 a night. You better plan ahead though as this is a very popular campground and it books up fast, specially the better sites.

You are within walking distance of a beautiful beach. While pets are welcome in the campground, they are strictly forbidden on the beach.

This campground has it all. Beautiful, private wooded sites, a network of walking trails, a pristine beach, and close proximity to historic downtown St. Augustine. Upon entry we were in awe of the giant live oak trees dripping with moss that line the main campground road. Our site was a gem with a pretty little sitting area carved out among the trees, a canopy of twisting live oak branches towering overhead, plenty of space to extend our awning and set out our chairs. While the majority of sites here are not big rig friendly, we had no problems at all with our 25' trailer.

As is the norm for Florida State Parks the facilities were well cared for. The showers always clean, and the washers and dryers in good working order.

And if that's not enough, there is also a beach! Only a short walk or bike ride from our site was a beautiful, wide beach perfect for strolling, bike riding, or hunting for shells.

I can't recommend this campground enough and hope to someday make a return visit.

Loved our stay at Anastasia State Park. Our site (and all the ones we saw) was tucked among the trees and palms so that we were screened from view of our neighbors. Bathrooms were very nice and well maintained. The beach was fantastic!

We stayed here primarily as a home base for touring St. Augustine and it was an easy drive across the bridge to the center of the St. Augustine historic area.

Reserving a site at this campground was difficult. We managed to reserve 3 nights starting on Sunday for site 121. Each loop has a couple of non reserve sites. If you ask for one of those when you arrive they can let you change your reserved spot to one of these walk in sites so they moved us to 125, it was so tight we could barely squeeze between the tree and our door to get into the Airstream . The next day we moved again in to site 90 in the Sea Urchin loop. Bring your bikes, lots of in camp riding and unlimited biking in Saint Augustine. The best sites are in the back loops, coquina loop is close to the beach but narrow sites, crowed and loud. The grounds were well kept and facilities clean. There is a great farmers market at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Sat, and another one at the pier on Wednesday. Try the Anastasia Kitchen just outside the park heading toward the bridge the lady that owns the place does all the cooking and serving during the week and has help on the weekend. The food is great.

Not many complaints at all about this gorgeous state park, except the staff at the office were decidedly unhelpful at letting us know by phone even a few minutes before we arrived whether any walk-in spots were still available. We had to hope for the best when we showed up. We also had to go online or call Reserve America then to reserve it for the rest of our stay, because they only do same-day reservations. Really odd, the way they can't work with Reserve America themselves at the office, but we've run into that before, so not surprising.

The only other complaint were the ticks this time of year, or maybe because of the weather lately - but they were everywhere except the beach itself, even in walking areas with less foliage and on the concrete. Our dogs had a recent flea/tick treatment on them, but the ticks were still crawling all over their fur and we had to pick them off before going inside. We had to spray our legs as well, or we'd have been covered in them too. Just use caution and treat your animals and yourselves well! They were also dropping onto us from branches and palm fronds.

Cell service on AT&T and Verizon was spotty in some loops, with both our sites needing a booster to get anything usable for working.

Mojo's tacos and the taco truck at the corner by the gas station were hidden gems. Can't wait to come back here sometime..hopefully when the bugs aren't so bad. The beach and tranquility were still worth it.

We stayed only three nights, Jan 4-7, and would have stayed longer but they were completely booked. Most sites are quite private and range from difficult to easily accessible for big rigs so choose carefully. Showers are kind of old but clean and serviceable. Shopping is convenient since St. Augustine is right outside the park. There's lots of sightseeing in St. A and good places to eat and drink. Dogs OK in the campground but not on the beach but there's a dog-friendly county beach not far from the park. Too cold for swimming at this time of year but beach combing was fun. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

I tried and tried and tried to get a site here last minute and was able to snag two nights in April. I wish it had been longer but at least we got a taste of the FL State Park everyone seems to talk about.

We were in site 131. It was TIGHT. Not only was the site tight but backing in took a bit more patience than normal. We did get a bit of entertainment when a 5th wheel tried to park across the street from us. We had to move our truck for them to have enough room to back in although they could have used even a bit more room or a more attentive spotter. They backed their 5th wheel over our campsite post while at a very tight angle leaving a very heafty gash in the front corner.

So no lie, it's pretty tight.

That aside, the beach is the draw offering a long and relatively quiet stretch of beach. Rumor has it, if you head south down the beach, you'll come across the town nude beach. The sites really vary but considering how hard it is to get a site here, just grab one suited for your length and go with it!

St. Augustine itself is worth a trip to town or two. It's quite touristy but very charming.

Also, our GPS sent us down into a neighborhood on the opposite side of the park with no entrance so it's more accurate to just follow the road signs.

This is such a nice park with several different loops all overlong their own level of accessibility and privacy. Our loop were mostly all travel trailers and fifth wheels. There didn't seem to be too many spots for big rigs. We loved being able to stay near the beach, close to town and waking up to birds not highway noise in the morning. The state park is also close to Old Coast Ales, a local small batch brewery and taproom with great wifi anddd shuffleboard!

Very convenient to explore the city of St. Augustine--which is both historic and touristy. Nicely kept but bathhouses just so-so. We took off three ticks from our dog in three days (including a rain day), so keep an eye on their coat after you walk them around. The beach is one of the better ones on the Atlantic coast and you are close to the city of St. Augustine Beach as well. With large rigs, be advised that the sites are very tight. We saw folks with large 5th wheels be very challenged to back them in. In town, be sure to eat at Harry's that is dog friendly on their large patio and has respectable New Orleans style fare.

As we pulled into the park, there’s a sign that says to watch for turtles crossing. Then immediately we saw two turtles! WIN!

This site was similar to Hanna Park, but fewer people were camping since we were going on a weekday. Anastasia State Park also has half the campsites of Hanna Park, so it feels less busy. Our site was very level and had ample space and nice division from the other sites.

Good bike riding and huge beaches.
Also there is a beach mat that runs from the parking lot to the beach, making it easier than sludging through the soft sand.
