Stayed Friday - Sunday. Was busy on Friday, but there were only a couple other people camping near us on Saturday.
There is an additional $2 per day per kayak fee to enter the park with kayaks.
Our site overlooked Sunset Cove. The path down to the lake is quite steep, but we managed to carry our kayaks down to launch.
There is a nice covered picnic table at the site that we were able to hang hammocks on, which was nice!
The site was fairly level. We’re able to pull through with our small rig!

Right off the highway with full hookups. We had a pull through spot. Electric didn’t work at the first spot we tried (34), but worked fine at site 33.
Worked perfect for us to get off the road during white-out conditions last night. Plus, free WiFi!

Average campground. Mixed emotions about it.

There was a lot of conflicting information in the paperwork handed out when we checked in and what actually happened. Examples:
- Pool hours listed as 9AM - 8PM on paperwork, but sign at pool had varied hours
- Garbage pick up listed as 8AM - 8PM, but they didn’t come around to pick up in the evening several times. Because of this, raccoons got into the bags of trash people left for pick up. (Only dumpster located all the way at front of park, outside the gates).
- Check in/out times. Check out on paperwork listed as 11AM, but received a text from the KOA stating check out is noon.

In addition to this conflicting information, several of the sites were on grass (water/electric sites) and very muddy. Looked like it was a perpetual issue as there were several deep ruts in all of the grass sites. Our full hookup site was gravel and was level.

Several seasonal / long term residents.

Staff was friendly. Pool was clean. Offered fire wood and ice delivery to sites. Good location to see Cuyahoga Valley National Park as it’s fairly centrally located. Park was quiet.

We stayed at site 37, which was a water/electric site. It was level and fairly large.
Pros:
- Pool was really nice and clean
- Drinks were reasonably priced
- Food was decent
- Had the pool to ourselves from 9AM-noon. Most people didn’t show up until 12:30 or 1PM
- Site was level and large

Cons:
- Pricey
- We have 2 dogs, but had a hard time walking them around the campground because so many people had loose dogs that ran out at us. One of the people camping at a site near us actually got bit in the leg by a loose dog during our stay.
- Website does not say you can’t bring your own drinks/snacks to the pool, but carry-ins are not allowed. I understand wanting to make money, but should advertise that on the website. They even gave us a hard time about bringing water into the pool area.
- The emcee at the pool who was running the games was a bit creepy. At one point he was hosting a “butt shaking contest” and only 1 woman volunteered as a contestant. For about 10 minutes he was singling women out of the crowd trying to pressure them into participating.
- Between 2 highways, so a lot of car and motorcycle noise.

Overall, we had an enjoyable time but likely wouldn’t come back unless a group of friends wanted to go there to celebrate a birthday or something.

Campground is a bit dumpy, but it was full hookups for cheap 1 mile from the interior entrance of Badlands.

Our site RV16 was set up goofy. Our electric (shared post with site RV15) was on one side and the water (shared spigot with RV23) was on the other side of the site. The way we had to pull in to make our hookups reach left the water spigot directly in front of our door...like watch out for it when we walked down our steps in front of our door. This also meant we shared the same small grass patch as the other camper on site 23.

The swimming pool on their map was also in the process of being torn out and filled in.

WiFi worked pretty well.

Worked for the 2 days we were there to see Badlands NP, but certainly unconventional setup.

Stayed overnight. Wish we could’ve stayed another day. Our site was huge!
Water and electric.

Didn’t get a chance to check out the shower house. Seemed like a quiet place.

Stayed here passing through while driving from WI to AZ.
Shower house was okay, but the water was hot with decent water pressure. The grounds are right off of the highway, so the sound is pretty loud.
Most of the people camped here were full-timers.

RV park was nearly perfect! Sites are all full hookup on level concrete pads. A good amount of grass space between sites. We camped at a buddy site with family, so had plenty of space.
If you are alone and want more space and privacy, go with a “premium” site.
Extremely clean facility. Great mini golf course, pools and hot tubs.
Lazy River was closed due to COVID while we were there, so didn’t get to use it but it looked awesome. Short walk/drive/bike ride to the beach.

Three things kept me from giving this 5 stars:
1) There’s an additional concrete pad at each site to walk out onto from your camper. No rugs/mats allowed on the grass, but they can go on the concrete. My issue is we have a rear door and the length of the concrete was not enough to align with our door. Saw this was the case with many campers.
This misalignment meant we had to walk out directly into the sand (mud when it rained) instead of onto our rug or the pad. Had to sweep several times a day to keep the sand out of our camper.

2) Kids in the Adults Only hot tub. There’s an indoor “adults only” hot tub. The handle is even about 6’ off the ground with a large sign on the door saying “ADULTS ONLY - Nobody under 18”.
Now, I don’t have an issue with a few well-behaved kids hanging out with their parents. My issue is when there’s more kids than adults, the kids are throwing pool toys and splashing strangers. This put a damper on a couple of nights in the indoor spa. Didn’t seem like there was any enforcement to the adults only rule.

3) WiFi. Campground says they have WiFi but it is only 1 mb/s - basically useless.

Chose to stay at this campground because the website says there is a dock and boat launch at the campground for the Chippewa River and we are avid kayakers.

When we arrived and were checking in, we asked where the launch was in relation to the office. We were told they’ve never had a launch or access to the river.

The website also says there is a nature walk, but that also didn’t exist.

The campground was clean. Fire wood was $20 for a decent amount of wood. Full hookups. We were at the back of the ground away from the road, so it was quiet.

Sites were a little tight and unlevel, but we didn’t have neighbors right next to us so we were able to use part of the site next to us. Not every site had a picnic table or fire ring. Had to grab one from a vacant site.

Nothing special about the campground (no pool, laundry, etc.), but it served its purpose. Was a short drive (4 miles) to Leinenkugel’s and the river launch.

Stayed at site 433, which was full hookups over Memorial Day Weekend. The staff was GREAT and did a wonderful job of operating smoothly with no contact due to COVID.
Every site is pretty level and well maintained. A lot of trees around each site.
Firewood was reasonably priced ($5.50 a bundle). Very quiet campground.
Unfortunately a lot of business were still closed while we were there, so we didn't get to truly explore the town. We did, however, bike Sunset Trail in Peninsula State Park and kayak in Rowleys Bay. Peninsula State Park is only about 12 miles away and the launch for the bay was about 1/4 mile from the campground.
Will 100% come back to stay at Wagon Trail again in the near future!
Only "downside" is the cell service would be really good (full Verizon LTE bars), then all of a sudden no service.
