To be honest, we chose to stay at Lazy H because it was what looked like the nicest park close to our favorite steakhouse in South Dakota. What we found was an RV park version of "Field of Dreams" in the middle of the Iowa cornfields. We were greeted by the owner of the place at the sign in gate and given the rundown of all we could expect during our stay. Lazy H is only a couple of years old and there is lots more planned for this park. It has its own lake surrounded by a beach where you can enjoy bathing, fishing and boating. All of the sites are absolutely huge, concrete, pull-in spots with a large picnic table and fire ring, that look like they could accommodate as big a rig as you could push or tow. Each site has a 60 ft grass area that is green and thick as you could hope for. The bathrooms and shower rooms are sparkling. The roads are all paved and great for a walk or a bike ride. They have a walking trail around the park if you really want to get your steps in.
There's not a whole lot of sights to visit in the Akron area but the park itself is a destination. Vermillion is about 22 miles west, and is home to SD State, and has loads of restaurants and bars and easily one of the nicest Walmarts you will find. Akron is a neat little town and there are plenty of stores to visit and take care of all your basic stuff.
I can't say enough about the park or the folks running this place. Top notch in every way! They were more than able to work with us when we had to stay an extra day due to me getting stuck in Hawarden Hospital for a few days with pneumonia of all things. Thought I had all my shots! We hope to return in the future, healthy and able to fully enjoy this gem of a campground. Special shout out to Justin, Angie (who even called while hospitalized to check on me) and Kourtney with a K who are just fine folks.
Almost forgot.....outstanding cell and data speed on Verizon and T Mobile. Good selection of OTA channels and wide open for satellite reception. A bit off the beaten path but worth the trip.

Day 1 of a 200 day trip brought us to A Stone's Throw RV Park in Lamont Fl. Quick and painless access off of I-10. Check in was at the contact free kiosk and then found our well marked and easy to enter pull-thru spot. Some of the spots were rather large with a picnic table and plenty of room to set up camp. Ours was fairly close to our neighbor for the evening but still comfortable. The sites are all gravel filled and not quite level but no big effort to overcome. Services were all well maintained and set up was a breeze. Decent water pressure and solid power for our 50 amp FW. Verizon signal was STRONG. Full bars with 97mbps down and 36mbps upload speeds. OTA selections were limited. Park WIFI available but did not need to use it.
About the only downside was the traffic noise from the Interstate. Not all that offensive, but a light sleeper may want to think twice about getting their peaceful nights sleep here.
Almost forgot....Lamont is a fast food mecca! MickeyD's, Arby's, Hardee's all within walking distance of the campground.

Lucked out and picked another good one! Thanks to Teri and Mark for taking us in and making us feel so comfortable. This is a well run and maintained park. Lots of room to spread out and plenty of space for a hike or to get the pooch tuckered out. Take it slow coming in on the dirt and gravel entry road and be met at the office with all the info you'll need for your stay. Big, easy to get into sites. Centrally located services. The park Wifi works great and saved us a couple of times. Cell service is fine for phone but data speed is subpar at best. We use Verizon with Tmobile backup for our hotspot and both were a struggle at times. Lots of OTA tv channels to keep you entertained during weather events.
The park is within an easy drive to downtown San Antonio. We spent a Sunday at the Riverwalk and The Alamo. More restaurants and shops than you can think of. Its a fun place to play tourist. There are plenty of services within minutes from the park. Everybody wants to know where the Walmart is.....just a couple exits up on I-35.
They have a Saturday evening campfire down in the lower creek level. Always nice to meet some of your neighbors you share a campground with. We were originally parked in the creek area but had to relocate due to storms in the area. Thanks again to the owners for being so accommodating and setting us up in a beautiful spot.

After a bit of a snafu at one of the other big Encore parks in the area, we were welcomed with open arms to Victoria Palms. I can't say enough about the wonderful staff and this beauty of a park. Its huge! The majority of the park is occupied by long term residents with landscaped sites and a main road to the clubhouse that kind of reminded me of the entry road to the Breakers in Palm Beach. The paved site we were given was spacious and easy to set up for the week. They have a 24 hour manned entrance. We were there visiting friends so didn't get to enjoy the amenities offered, which were many. Located in the middle of everything The Valley has to offer the winter crowd, we really enjoyed the area. Even got to visit the dentist in Nuevo Progreso on a trip over the border. Big thumbs up to the folks at Victoria Falls. Thanks.

Jamaica Beach Resort is hands down our favorite stop so far on our 7 month Go Broke Tour. In between the Gulf beach and the bay. You can walk, cart or drive to the beach access. You can even park your truck on the beach so you don't have to drag all your stuff the whole 1/8 of a mile. It was a breeze checking in and the wonderful staff at the office gave you a quick overview of upcoming events and easy to follow directions to your site. Just happened to luck into the campground sponsored Fish Fry night when we arrived.
The sites are all drive thru, concrete with patio area and picnic table and they are level. Services are well located and include cable tv. Water pressure was excellent as was the water quality. Verizon signal was strong at 5 bars and data signal was very good at 32Mbps down and 19Mbps up with hotspot. Campground wireless was pretty good most of the time and worked very well for basics.
The resort was hit pretty hard during the freeze this winter and the palms show the ill effects of a week long hard freeze. We are already planning our trip for next spring and hope to see everything green and lush once again. They did get everything back in order by the time we got here. Really enjoyed the Lazy River and the spa. Mini golf was fun. Lots to entertain here.
Can't think of one bad thing to say about this place! Try to make it more than a one night stop so you can enjoy the beach, the city and all the amenities offered here. Ok....we were right on the highway end so a bit of road noise but quiets right down at night.
If you come in from I-45 I would suggest taking Stewart Rd till it intersects Termini-San Luis Pass Rd (aka) FM3005. Also preferred Randall's to Kroger for food shopping just in case you were wondering what my thoughts were on local supermarkets!!

We had high expectations coming to Cajun Palms. Friends had told us it was the best campground they had been to on their travels. It is impressive on arrival driving into a large, covered welcome area. Sign in was efficient and the attendants were personable and very helpful. I can't say enough good things about the staff here. We had an escort to our site which was a back-in and perfect in every way. Gotta practice backing up sometime! Services were easy to access and all worked as expected. We were treated to 80 channels of cable to go along with a huge recreation area with pools, hot tubs, food service and even a bar. If you have kids and want them to get out of the RV this is where you want to take them!
Cajun Palms hits all the hot buttons for a family outing. If you're looking for a quiet getaway you might want to schedule a Sunday arrival and scoot out of here on Friday. It is quite sedate during the week. We didn't see one kid sitting around on a phone all weekend. Lots of families having a great time.
How could I not give this place 5 stars overall? My biggest negative was connectivity. We travel on weekends to our destination and schedule our stays for one or two weeks for work Monday thru Friday. We have plenty of time evenings and weekend for exploring and doing all the tourist stuff. We've depended on our Verizon connection for almost 2 years and it has been practically bulletproof. Until we got here! I double check reviews for cell signal strength and up till now didn't think about data bandwidth and speed. My bad I guess. Verizon signal is 4/5 bars as reported but data is extremely slow to non-existent in this area. WIFI here is a pay service and throttled to a 7Mbps download speed max unsecured. Not ideal. T-mobile signal works perfectly though. Guess its time to finally purchase that back up system!!
I know its not the fault of the park that the roads coming off the interstate to the park are in disrepair. If you make it through Louisiana to Exit 115 in good shape, you're treated to what can only be called a bouncehouse coming to the park.
Hey....I hope my couple of complaints don't deter you from enjoying a really great time at Cajun Palms. We're just a couple of folks who still have to work to enjoy places like this.

We were excited to finally make it to Pensacola after a year of being held up by the virus. Our first choice was booked but we found our new first choice right down the road. Easy to reach from I-10 exit 7, with clearance to the park for the largest rigs on the road. Pensacola RV Park is 20 minutes from everything. (at least when they get the bridge to the beach open again....still closed for repairs till May) All of the sights are level, gravel and groomed, with plenty of room for backing in and pull thru. You won't have to disconnect if you're in for a night or two.
When you get to the park, stop at the office, pick up your paperwork and you'll be escorted to your site. Services are well located and easy to access. Cable is included with your site and the park WIFI worked really well. You can tell they have put some time and work into getting this old farmland turned into a modern and efficient RV park. At the time of writing this, my Verizon signal, which has been flawless during our stay, is reading 67Mbps down and 12Mpbs upload speeds. There are plenty of OTA channels available and I've seen lots of rigs with Dish and Direct units out so I can only guess that the reception is fine. There are multiple washers and dryers available at the clubhouse where you also find the restrooms and showers. There is a library and and card tables and board games and really great folks running the whole operation.
We really enjoyed the beach areas of Navarre Beach, Pensacola Beach, Perdido Key, Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. Got lucky and hit them all before a few days of storms rolled in. You want to at least try one Bushwacker at Flabama on the water. More than one and you'll want a designated driver with you. If you really, really want to see the Naval Air Museum you will need a DOD id card, retired military ID or a
VHCI from the VA. This site is no longer available to the general public. You can be escorted by anyone with an official ID so keep that in mind. The Blue Angels still practice every Tuesday and Wednesday morning and you can see them from the beach or around the VA Hospital area.
My absolute favorite thing about Pensacola...Maguires Irish Pub!!! These folks will feed you and water you down like very few restaurants do anymore. Can't rave enough about the food, the service and the value.
We'll be reserving a spot here for Spring of 22. Enjoyed our stay.

We were relieved to arrive at our campground for the week after 2 months of hot weather. Village Camper Inn is away from the main part of town, and its very quiet, with its own bit of redwood forrest. The sites were fairly tight for this still learning RV'er but manageable. The services are set at the rear of the sites and were almost at the limit of our equipment. All of our connections are mid rig on the FW. All worked well though very close to our neighbors patio area. Be aware of that one cherry tree in July!!! I guess it was a good excuse to wash the rig anyway.
The Redwood Nat'l Park is 30 minutes south when Rt 101 is not being rebuilt from landslides. It was worth the little extra wait in traffic, and of course the ride along the coast is breathtaking. We were located just minutes from Crescent City and the harbor area. Walmart is very close buy the campground. There are a limited number of restaurants in town but the normal big chains are present. We recommend the local brewery in town called Sea Quake. They pour an excellent chocolate porter and their pizza is so good you'll forget about the price! Oh yeah, the mac and cheese ain't bad either.
Our site had cable but limited channels. Got a few OTA TV channels. Cell service had low bars but the speeds of both Verizon and Tmobile were fine for work and streaming.
We did enjoy our stay in Crescent City and would visit Village Camper Inn on our next trip thru.

Benson is a small town in southern Arizona close to Tucson and Tombstone. Butterfield RV Resort is close to perfect! We were assigned a spacious pull-thru site close to the clubhouse and pool area. This park is CLEAN and well kept. We enjoyed an evening at the observatory checking out the stars and almost every afternoon lounging in the pool. Almost every site has a shade tree and the services were superior. The park hosts stop by to make sure all is well with your stay. Now they can't do anything about the trains and their horns thru town but I can't take a point off of one of the stars so it stays a "5"!
If you're looking for gourmet dining, Benson will not be your destination of choice. There is a well stocked Safeway within walking distance and of course your usual Wendy's and MickeyD's close by.
We met a lot of the residents of the park and were warmly welcomed. We could easily make this our new homebase.
