This campground is absolutely amazing. I have stayed all over the US & this is one of the nicest places I have stayed. All sites are pull through & cement pads. The private lake is great for swimming. The staff goes above & beyond. Angie & Courtney are amazing! Food trucks on weekends. You will not be disappointed!

To be honest, we chose to stay at Lazy H because it was what looked like the nicest park close to our favorite steakhouse in South Dakota. What we found was an RV park version of "Field of Dreams" in the middle of the Iowa cornfields. We were greeted by the owner of the place at the sign in gate and given the rundown of all we could expect during our stay. Lazy H is only a couple of years old and there is lots more planned for this park. It has its own lake surrounded by a beach where you can enjoy bathing, fishing and boating. All of the sites are absolutely huge, concrete, pull-in spots with a large picnic table and fire ring, that look like they could accommodate as big a rig as you could push or tow. Each site has a 60 ft grass area that is green and thick as you could hope for. The bathrooms and shower rooms are sparkling. The roads are all paved and great for a walk or a bike ride. They have a walking trail around the park if you really want to get your steps in.
There's not a whole lot of sights to visit in the Akron area but the park itself is a destination. Vermillion is about 22 miles west, and is home to SD State, and has loads of restaurants and bars and easily one of the nicest Walmarts you will find. Akron is a neat little town and there are plenty of stores to visit and take care of all your basic stuff.
I can't say enough about the park or the folks running this place. Top notch in every way! They were more than able to work with us when we had to stay an extra day due to me getting stuck in Hawarden Hospital for a few days with pneumonia of all things. Thought I had all my shots! We hope to return in the future, healthy and able to fully enjoy this gem of a campground. Special shout out to Justin, Angie (who even called while hospitalized to check on me) and Kourtney with a K who are just fine folks.
Almost forgot.....outstanding cell and data speed on Verizon and T Mobile. Good selection of OTA channels and wide open for satellite reception. A bit off the beaten path but worth the trip.

We were looking for a place to just hang out for a couple of days after afterwords RV rally’s back to back. We hit the jackpot here…. Huge pull through sites and each one has a fire pit and table with seats for 4-8 people. Power and water pressure was excellent. Lake with beach, fishing docks and very nice bathrooms spaces well throughout the park. We were easily able to do our 2 mile walk in the morning and they even have a trail down by the river. One review noted that Akron isn’t really a destination location but…. This campground has it all if you are looking for fun for the kids and lots of amenities for mom and dad. Only negative… no laundry. But not enough of a negative to prevent a longer stay.

We stayed at the Lazy H for a long weekend. When we arrived, frankly we were initially less than impressed. The campground looked like lots of concrete with no shade. The “lake” we expected was an old gravel pit. There were trees, but only saplings still staked up. However, our stay really changed our view. The sites are huge, with abundant green grass (they irrigate regularly). The concrete pads are wide, with fire pit and a great 8-person picnic table (but, bring your own patio umbrella). The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food truck (the “Lazy Susan”) had GREAT food. They have a very nice playground setup, but it’s a fair hike from most of the campsites (but close to the cabins). A lot of equipment rental options (including kayaks, paddle boards, pontoons, bikes, golf carts, etc.). The grounds are kept very clean by the staff. Be sure to bring everything you need, because the nearby town doesn’t offer much, and there’s really not a campstore onsite. We would definitely recommend this campground.
