Located just inside White Mountain National Forest, this makes for an easy entry into the area. Just a couple miles off I-93, easy to find and get to. Know going in that you will not have electricity, water, access to a dump station or TV reception, but we had good luck with our mobile wifi throughout our stay. Though the park does have access to water, the spigots do not allow for hooking up to an RV, so fill your fresh water tank before arriving. The bathrooms seemed well-maintained and accessible from all sites. The park has coin-operated showers available--$2.50 for a 5-minute shower. Campton has a gas station, a few bar-and-grills, and a Dollar General--about all we needed for a short stay!

The location gives the most benefit here. The park gives a bit of an oasis in a busy suburban area. We found the staff helpful and efficient--we had some issues with our original assigned site and they quickly gave us another that worked very well for us. A lot of traffic noise, but to be expected along a busy highway (Colonial/Hwy 50)--location has its plusses and minuses. We drove a bit (15-30 minutes) to the Lake Apopka North Shore Wildlife Drive. Free with a great many birds, gators, and one croc who seemed particularly...interested...in us. We also enjoyed the downtown area. Good restaurants and a great bookstore, and also close to Mt. Dora which we enjoy for the same reasons.

We really like this park. While we've visited before, we haven't camped here before, but this offered a lot. As others have said, the great location as in proximity to Boston, only adds to the offerings. Salem has plenty to do, and easily bikeable, but honestly, I could have sat by the ocean all three days and had a great time. We stayed on a grass site, which I much prefer over the concrete lot, though having the ocean outside your window does sound nice.
I only gave four stars because of the price, but this rate seems pretty typical of Massachusetts. Also only offers electricity/water, but allows access to the dump station at the nearby Salem water works facility.
