Originally we had reserved site A10, but decided that since the park was only about half full that we'd move across the lane to a flatter site. The Host's were very helpful and courteous. The sites were gravel pads with electric only. Beware that the sites along the north sides of the campground loops are generally sloped downward to the north. The flatter sites are on the insides of the loops.

The park was incredibly quiet. The trails were enjoyable with the dogs!

Stayed here over the Fourth of July Weekend. It was a busy park, but the area we stayed in wasn't. The sites are large. Ours had lots of space on the camp side of our RV. Water hydrants are scattered throughout, but on busy weekends they run out of pressure. Hosts were very helpful and polite. For an Illinois State Park, it is well maintained.

Stayed over the Labor Day weekend. It was a packed campground. There were lots of groups being fairly loud around the 10pm timeframe. The RV allowed us to just use the AC Fan to drown out the noise, but tent camping would be a different experience. The park gets you near one of the Lake Shelbyville boat ramps. Many of the sites, including ours, had a separate drive to park a second truck with a boat - that's what we did! Didn't meet the camp hosts because I think they may have been fairly busy on the holiday. Would definitely come back for spring fishing on a weekend that isn't a holiday.

This campground was full for the weekend. Unfortunately, we made a reservation near the entrance/exit of the campground so there was a lot of traffic during the day. But, it slowed way down in the evening. The park was quiet even though it was full. Just a heads-up - the gate closes at 10pm, so if you intend to be out late checking out Utica or Ottawa, I recommend leaving a car at the camp store and calling an Uber.

Stayed here over Labor Day Weekend. Every year there is an Antique Engine Show and Flea Market. So, the park was packed. However, the sites have really good spacing and everyone really kept it quiet. Didn't do much fishing but the trails were well taken care of for the most part. The shower house is in the Twisted Oaks Campground near the entrance. The sites there are very close together. If you don't need extra facilities, I would recommend the Big Oaks Campground.
