“a 3,200 acre historical preserve”
Jubilee College State Park is a 3,200-acre facility, located in Peoria County between the towns of Kickapoo and Brimfield, just off U.S. Route 150. This scenic area, with its rolling topography and meandering Jubilee Creek, offers various outdoor recreational opportunities. Named Jubilee College in 1839 by its founder, Episcopal Bishop Philander Chase in expression of his thankfulness and joy, the college was one of the earliest educational enterprises in Illinois. Through a series of misfortunes climaxed by the Bishop's death, the college closed in 1862. In 1933 the college and grounds, consisting of 93 acres, were presented to the state of Illinois. Since that time, the Department of Natural Resources increased the acreage to 3,200. The college closed in 2008, however, the college building, placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, has been restored to its original appearance and is under the management of the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency. Jubilee is situated in the Illinoisan drift-plain and is deeply eroded into many complex valley systems, from near-level ridgetops and floodplains to steep slope ravines. Bedrock exposures are numerous and include shale, sandstone, limestone and coal. The highest elevation is 660 feet. The topography and Jubilee Creek constitute an aesthetically pleasing environment for outdoor recreation activities, and provide habitat for numerous wildlife and fish species. Visitors may see deer, rabbit, squirrel, fox, coyote and raccoon throughout the forests, while the creek may offer glimpses of mink, muskrat and beaver.More than 160 species of birds are present, and wild turkeys, stocked in 1988, call Jubilee home.Jubilee Creek, a tributary to Kickapoo Creek, passes through the park from the northwest to southeast and is characterized by deep pools and fast riffles. The average width is 40 feet and average depth is 4 inches. Fish species of interest to anglers include smallmouth bass, bluegill, catfish and carp. Swimming is prohibited.

The Host's were very helpful and courteous. The sites were gravel pads with electric only. Beware that the sites along the north sides of the campground loops are generally sloped downward to the north. The flatter sites are on the insides of the loops.
The park was incredibly quiet. The trails were enjoyable with the dogs!

There is 1 pull-through site, B6. Big enough to fit 32 foot class C, uhaul auto transport trailer and another car. 30amp at the site, no 50amp. $20/night, spacious sites, nice trails, water and dump at front of park. Only lost a star because the bathroom showers were nasty. Very nasty. Quiet stay in May with only a few other campers. Not far off of I-74. Coffee shop and pizza joint 8 minutes away. Would stay again.

We enjoyed our tranquil stay here! There was ample space for our girls to run and play. We saw several rabbits and a deer while walking to the bathhouse. The bathhouse only had scalding hot water which would be my only negative review.

We did not have reservations and arrived on a Sunday evening to find we had our pick of just about any site in the A loop. A few posts had reservation sines on them, but not a camper in sight. We chose the last site in the right before exiting the loop, A20. This site is very private o. The curb side and there is lots of space between you and the next camper on the driver's side. The site required some leveling blocks to get level and was really muddy from all the rain that fell. It had electric but no water. When you arrive, you check in with the host, no self-registration. For the cell phone sigal, AT&T really struggled, bouncing between 1 bar and no service. Verizon provided a very reliable 2 bars.

I have stayed here on 2 different occasions the first time was in the fall of 19 it was very quiet... so we came back... the park is cleaned and well maintained the rv spots very in size from 40 to 100ft in length there are a few spots that back up to each other and could be used as drive though... 2 or 3 handicapped sight per loop with concrete pad... 3 loops total loop 1 and 2 can be reserved... some sites are dirt pads some are gravel pads some pads are narrow and some perfectly level... there is a strict 2 vehicle limit per site...

my wife and I have stayed here many times being its simi close to home we never stay in the same site but have yet to get the sight i want. this time the site I had was a 50amp site so in the box was a 50 amp plug a 30 amp plug and a set of 20amp... the 30 DID NOT work in this box so used a dog bone... I check the other 50amp sites when it was not raining to see if the 30 amp plug had power it was about 50 50 for working 30 amp plugs on in the 50amp boxes...
on this trip I noticed that not all the fire pits are located on the passenger side of the truck when backing in...

This campground is located in a Dept of Natural Resources park containing 3,200 acres of trails, camping, & fishing. We stayed here on a Saturday night in late Sept 2020 and the campground was very full, however everyone seemed to be having a good time and it was not noisy. This appears to be a great family campground and the kids enjoyed running on the grassy areas.....there were several multi-family gatherings. Nice vibe here. The campsites on the perimeter of the loops have the most privacy as the back of the sites are tucked into the woods. There are fire pits on all sites which were very much in use throughout the campground. We paid $25 for a Standard 30 Amp site which was not very level. Our picnic table was in bad repair but was usable. Did not go into the bathrooms so can't comment on those. We stayed there in a 27' travel trailer. There aren't a lot of camping options in this area for this price with large RV sites, so we were happy to have reserved a site in advance. We give this a 3.5 Star Rating.

My wife and I have stayed here may time in the past. we were in the area the weekend of Feb. 20th 2021. Air temp was 20deg in the day time and around 0 at night. the few weeks for it was highs around 0. the local are had about a foot of snow on the ground and only 3 sites were plowed. the road was clear. Only Loop A is open in the winter. there was 1group in a truck camper that was saying, there was a sign that had a park number to call if u need a sight plowed for for you. There was a self pay station in place of the host spots. there was $2 discount for winter camping.

Illinois does not take care of its state parks. The registration sign was pasted together with stick-on lettering and duct tape. The settings are usually nice but the facilities are minimally cared for though clean. I was hoping the trails might be open but since this is freeze-thaw season I should have known better. Many sites in the A loop are very sloped. Mine was minimally so. The electricity was on, the water was off. Only two other campers here. I lost cell signal a few times while winding my way to the campground. Ended up having 28 down & 6 up on AT&T with a MIMO antenna. Nothing usable on T-Mobile. During the camping season with full leaf cover and more people, it seems likely speeds would be much lower. It was okay but nothing I'd go out of my way to visit again. OH, one thing to note is the entire area is closed off for hunting for several long weekends before and after Thanksgiving.
