Great place to stay if your riding the creeper trail. Close to town. Camp is right on the river, a bit noisy because of the river and get 58 across the creek. Good fishing right in the camp. Everything worked with no issues. Dog friendly.

So quiet you think your in outer space. So dark it's unnatural. Wildlife everywhere. Only 7 camp sites, no elect, no water, no dump. Sites are miles apart. bunk house sleeps 8. Reservations only no drop in allowed to camp. Day use is ok. 20 miles of dirt road to get here. The river is great, caught small and large mouth bass. Mostly on top water baits. Bring your boat, but you have to carry it 7/8 mile. So bring a cart you won't be disappointed. The river is so clean the entire state of Texas sets it's standards by this water. Natural spring fed, Crystal clear. Catch and release on the bass but not catfish. Hiking is rugged but worth the effort, you will not be disappointed. Lots of fossils to be viewed but not collected.
Park staff are friendly and can give out great info on the area.
Wonderful place to disappear for a while. Spring and fall is best summer is hot. Ask to see the cave art.
Internet available at the ranger station. Great hot showers and bathrooms.

Fries is nested is a little holler right in town. You would never know your in town. Very private, quiet, stream running the grounds, , level lots with all amenities. Elect, water, sewer, cable tv, wi-fi. A little pricy but we'll worth it. We are self contained so we didn't use the bathrooms, but from past experience i know they were spotless.
Owner Mr. Tom is a great guy, helpful, and caring.
Lots to do here, with the river and bike trail in view. Great base camp to fish, canoe the river, or bike the many miles of river trail. Lots to do in fries. Great river outfitter out of fries by the bridge. Timmy will help you plan your adventures in land or the river.

Lovely sites, but we're buily by the Corp of engineering so some sites are backwards meaning you back in normally you will not have the lake view mostly in the tee sites always choose the right hand side if possible. This will be a back in site and you have the lake view, the left hand side you will have to pull in to face the lake, but you likely won't be able to get your vehicle out. Otherwise a nice, quiet camp ground except on holidays. Great fishing lake bring your boat.

Look for the honey bees next in the tower on the walking trail near the rest rooms. Stayed one nite in the tent area, which was difficult to get my home leveled, then moved to the rv site with full hook ups. Beautiful sun sets. Quiet neighbors. Super clean facility. Lots of hiking within walking distance of camp ground. No cell service but who cares. Long way to the store but who cares. We're camping.
Look for animal tracks in the sand, lots of wildlife here.
