Nice well kept and spaced sites. Pecos has the hook up sites and Mesquite is dry camping. That said, check before booking as it seemed like a few of the sites in Pecos might not. The Eastside camp loop wasn't open, but that might have just been a seasonal thing. Kind of a longish drive (6 miles) from Hwy 84 on good road. Very quiet, milky way visible night sky, and a short 1/4 mile walk down to the lake. No camp wifi, but good cell service.

Spent 2 nights here over New Years...
Sort of a surprise as the state parks website showed the campground was full for the weekend. Since we were close by we decided to stop by and see if there were any cancellations. They said no, but they had an overflow area and we could dry camp there. $25 per night, includes bathrooms, dump station and showers and right on the lake. It is a parking lot, but the sites are wide and easily fit us at 35' and our tow car. There is a 7 day limit on the overflow and it is only open when the campground is full.

Another very nice NM state park. It's a fairly long run off the highway, but the road is fine. Sites aren't exactly level or on the water, but they are clean and well spaced. From our side of the camp loop there were a couple trails that ran toward the water, but didn't actually reach a beach. Still, all in all, another very nice state park.

Agree with previous reviews, this is an older well worn RV Park. Nice that the transient spots are right up front but as noted, utilities are kinda sketchy looking although functional. Rain makes mud throughout the sites and roads. Noise from the highway, occasional train and the AM/PM and Pilot Truck Center just over the side fence may be an issue for some. I guess overall, it serves the purpose when you just need a place for an overnight, but I do think $47 is a bit steep for what it is.

It's an 8 mile run from Santa Rosa out to the lake on good paved road. The sites are fine, big and well spaced. The campground is clean and easy to navigate. You need to reserve a spot ahead, you can't just show up and grab an open spot. T Mobile was spotty. Lake levels are really low due to a statewide drought right now. Very quiet and dark... lots of stars. As I remember (after the fact by a couple weeks now) loop A has electric for all sites, but not all have water. The other loop (B?) is dry camping.

Sort of an odd arrangement to allow longer motorhome/car rigs to fit in the shortish pull thru's. The nice lady in the office gave me 2 side by side spots... in my case 49/50 so that you can pull in diagonally and not have to unhook.
Sites are level concrete with paved roads. Place was clean but I agree with a previous review, the security lights were right between sites and really bright.
Ok for an overnight stop, not as noisy as a truck stop or rest area. Close to I-5, fuel and fast food, but Santa Nella isn't a recreation destination.

The park is limiting water use, and recommending that you fill your tanks and bring your own. Bathrooms and showers are open, but they are asking campers to use the park water sparingly.
Otherwise, great place. At the foot of Picachu Mtn, great views north and east across miles of desert scrub, I-10 and lots and lots of iconic Saguaro cactus. Sites are large so do not feel crowded, and while access to I-10 is easy and close, it is very quiet. Pretty much anything from tents to the larger class A's fit comfortably. Flies were a bit of a bother, but hey, this is camping and the sunset/sunrises are stellar.

Staying in a parking lot isn't high on our desirability list, but after having some car problems up at Silver Island Mountains Dry Lake (BLM), the Shell Truck stop next door to the Nugget turned out to be a fine for the night. Only a few trucks in the lot and the lot itself is gigantic. The Wendover Nugget RV Park is right behind the lot if you'd rather have hookups.

Arizona has some very nice, scenic camps and we've so far been able to enjoy everything from the cool of the mountains and high desert to hot scrub of the low land desert to stellar camps along the Colorado. Can't think of any to which we wouldn't happily return. The sites in Coopers Hawk loop where we were are paved and nicely spaced. Some trees and bushes provide not so much shade as a bit of screening and privacy.
A little confusion on checking in at Dead Horse. We were told that at 2p Wednesday (we checked in around 4p), that Az would not be taking any new reservations or extending existing ones. All state campgrounds would be effectively closing until the beginning of May. We wanted to stay in the area so booked a week at Distant Drums in Camp Verde for after our reservations here ran out. This am I noticed the park ranger removing the plastic bags and placards on the self registration stations and she told me that the order closing the state parks had been rescinded at 8p last night, 6 hours after it had been issued. So the last info is that state campgrounds in Az remain open, at least for now.

Easy access from I-15. Sites are well kept and nicely spaced. Short walk to the lake and day use area. Showers and bathrooms looked fine. Bugs are a problem though and proximity to the freeway made it a little noisy. Camp host is very friendly and helpful. We'd stay again as a stop over.
