The sites here range from semi-level to really not level. We were originally in site 8 and asked to move due to 8 being steeply sloped, more than I could accommodate with leveling blocks for our camper van. The site we moved to has a huge oak tree providing shade, which is nice. Cell service is present, but weak. Starlink is mostly not usable due to the many trees.

T-Mobile on phone alternated between 1 bar of LTE and 2 bars of 5G. Definitely on the fringe here. Verizon varied between usable and barely usable, never very fast. For those working while traveling, this isn’t necessarily the best campground choice.

We lucked into what must have been a cancelation, as every other site was booked. The site we got was outstanding. The grounds are well maintained, sites nicely spaced, and all around there’s a great vibe here. We’ll come back to this place if we’re ever through this way again.

We have stayed in a lot of COE campgrounds. They’re often the nicest of the US Government campgrounds. This one was lacking. It was October, so late in their season but the sites were not maintained, and the grounds looked neglected. Sites here are FAR from level, and many sites were quite small. Our class B can fit in most of them, but the angles were awful. We used all of our leveling blocks to get close enough to level to sleep.

Water spigot we used to fill our tank was the type with a spring-loaded handle, requiring holding the knob to get water. Not a huge deal, but unexpected for a COE. The big annoyance came on the way out of the campground when the dump station, that looked just fine the night before, was roped off with caution tape. We did need to dump, and so paid for that at a Flying-J. Again, not a huge deal, but dump station use is part of the value proposition at the COE sites.

This campground is on the expensive side for a publicly-owned facility. We arrived after dark. The online reservation information said checkin 2-9pm. The office was closed as we arrived just after 8pm, and the rules and map flyer said the hours are 2-8pm. That was the first clue. The map provided had no labeling other than site numbers. The signage for the different camp roads had names, not site numbers, and those names were not on the map. When asked the next morning, the staff said, “oh, we just put up the street names, and we’re using up old maps.” The site numbers are only on the electrical hookup boxes, but since the campground was full, you couldn’t see any of those boxes from the camp roads. We drove around for a while to find our site. The site was tiny side to side. It was sufficiently long for our class B, but otherwise quite cramped next to a large 5th wheel. We checked out the bath house, and there were signs that there was no hot water in the close one, so use the other. The other bath house also said there was no hot water. We asked at the office, and their response was, “oh, our propane supplier didn’t come fill.” Well, maybe they could actually monitor the levels themselves? Does the county government really have no ability to work with a propane supplier? We won’t return to this park, nor to any of the Brevard County parks given the sub-par facilities and disinterested staff.

We stayed here on our way east across Kansas. Off-season, it’s free if you don’t have hookups, or all of $10 for hookups. The water was off except for the dump station (both rinse water and potable available there). We had a great side overlooking the lake. Peaceful and quiet.

We parked here, and intended to stay the night, but as we work from the road, we rely on usable cell signals. We carry T-Mobile and Verizon. There was a good, strong Verizon signal, but data performance was awful. Cell site connection to their network is apparently minimal.

Other comments: showers were exceptionally basic, with no shower curtains. Didn’t appear very clean, either. Prominent storm shelter at the park entrance.

Free if no electric, but rate asked for electric was relatively high for the type of park. Nobody appeared to be plugged in.

Park is at the end of the runway for a municipal airport.

We are traveling musicians in a class B. This campground was very convenient as we had a gig in Wichita the next day. Arrived at sunset, found an open site. Off season, so no water was on in the shower house. Dump station was working, though. Inexpensive for an electric site overnight.
