I was heading to the Hot Springs area then further north. Was just looking for a place to rest for the night and saw a sign on Hwy 7. I pulled in late afternoon but liked it so much I stayed several nights. Nice campground. Convenient to a mountain bike trail system. I stayed in the campground loop on the ridge not the one near the lake. Very quiet and peaceful up there with a beautiful view overlooking the lake. I didn’t use the bathhouse so can not comment on it. It’s not far off Hwy 7 and not too far from I30. Would definitely recommend and return.

Pretty park. Stays “booked” online, but park was less than half full the weekend we were there. Frustrating since friends couldn’t book a site and stayed elsewhere but there wound up being more empty sites than occupied ones.
Glad I read the reviews /warning about ants so I came prepared. No ants bothered us, and I shared my bug spray and borax with other campers who started experiencing problems.
I’d stay here again, but probably not at the same site. 57,58,59- Very sloped and uneven. Picnic table area is a hilly hike to/from camper pad. Not a patch of flat by the camper pad to even put a chair or two. Great views though.

Quick one night stop. Campground was fairly empty even though it wasn’t a Saturday night. Unlevel sites overlook a dammed lake where lots of boating is done.

Nice campground, you have to make reservations online. Sketchy cellular service at cg, however the visitors center was much better. Sites were mostly level, spaced far enough apart to be quiet.

Friendly staff member. Bathrooms clean, showers good water pressure. Garbage cans by baths emptied. There are tiny ants so bring poison. We brought ant powder and had no problems. Sites are not level. Great views of the lake. Space 53

We have stayed in a lot of COE campgrounds. They’re often the nicest of the US Government campgrounds. This one was lacking. It was October, so late in their season but the sites were not maintained, and the grounds looked neglected. Sites here are FAR from level, and many sites were quite small. Our class B can fit in most of them, but the angles were awful. We used all of our leveling blocks to get close enough to level to sleep.
Water spigot we used to fill our tank was the type with a spring-loaded handle, requiring holding the knob to get water. Not a huge deal, but unexpected for a COE. The big annoyance came on the way out of the campground when the dump station, that looked just fine the night before, was roped off with caution tape. We did need to dump, and so paid for that at a Flying-J. Again, not a huge deal, but dump station use is part of the value proposition at the COE sites.

Compared to other ACOE campgrounds, this one is a bit lacking. It seems to be a bit older, judging by the construction and design of the bathroom/shower facility. As stated by other reviewers, many (most?) sites have a distinct slope and leveling will be tricky. The electric hookup is not on the side, but several feet behind the entire parking pad. This limited how far forward I could park my small teardrop. I had to change sites, as even completely squatted in the front, I was unable to level my trailer. The road is somewhat narrow, which could complicate parking larger trailers/RVs.
The bathrooms/showers are a bit older, but the water pressure and temperature in the shower was great. There wasn’t a bench in the shower stall and only one hook for clothing. The bathrooms were cleaned daily and there were several large basins outside the bathroom for washing dishes or disposing of soapy water. Nighttime brings the sounds of crickets/cicadas and is very peaceful. I visited in the spring - no ants yet as mentioned by other reviewers, but I imagine mosquitos could be bothersome as the weather warms.
I debated between 3 or 4 stars, but went with three due to the severely sloped sites and awkwardly placed electrical hookups. I would return, but only if I could secure one of the more level sites.
