Lovely setting in the Redwoods offering very little sunshine, so bring warm clothes. Office store and pub were a nice touch but the men’s washroom was incredibly dirty and water was tepid, at best. The washroom doors, inside and out, must have been white once upon a distant time but were now grey and covered in a layer of slime.

Beautiful setting. But with every commercial lake completely packed in like sardines. We were not informed on booking that the cantina and store would be closed for the season. Or that constant pressure washing of boats would be part of our waterfront experience. Water and electric close together but you would need a 20 feet minimum sewer hose to hook up all three. This is more for groups and kids. Not a serene experience by any stretch of the imagination.

Arrived mid afternoon and requested a river front. Lots of avails. Spot given was extremely close to neighbour and needed extension to reach electric. Asked for a different spot and the host was very unhelpful and belittling- must of been having a bad day! Ended on highway side. The signage for spots was very confusing. The electrics need some serious maintenance as do the water hookups. The set up for the sole sanidump is very peculiar. There appears to be a whole section for full timers. The highway sounds is very very loud and unfortunately there was some constant construction noise across the river. The location is lovely but the packing into tiny spots and having a host that has no interest in being helpful, very off putting. For one night it’s okay but wouldn’t want to be there any longer.

Great location as we were visiting friends nearby in Marin, and the washrooms and showers were wonderful. Yet I don’t know which I loathed more: the endless flies or the endless amount of small children telling their faces off and running around our RV at all hours. Quiet hours ostensibly end at 9AM yet we had kids yelling outside our door before 8 o’clock.

We had reservations and arrived around 5pm to be told that we needed to drive around to find an empty spot. This is not an easy campground to negotiate as there are many twists and turns and the map they give you is pretty useless. We drove around a bit and it appears to be very full and crowded. Plenty of cars jutting out onto roadway because of the tight fits. We went back into office and begged them to give us a clue as to what area to search for an empty spot. The lovely girl at the desk gave us a direction. At the end of the last road in the campground was an empty spot. It was probably empty because it had a deep muddy rut in the spot from someone trying to negotiate the angle of the spot. It was also near the dump station so there was that faint air of dump smell.
As this was the start of our two days there, not a good impression. It didn't improve over the two days. Shop closed at 5pm on a Friday night in Summer! We expected kids playing and regular family noise but unfortunately we must of picked a full moon weekend or something because we heard plenty of screaming between family members and it was very, very tense.
The whole place is cramped and lots of derelict looking campers. Their brochure and online pictures are really good but the reality is its old and tired and pretty rundown. If you are paying full price and not a Thousand Trails member - avoid this spot. Theres plenty in the area that our much nicer.
