Disclaimer for this review: We live in Tucson and we stayed here to get some practice boondocking close to home before we take a big trip, so I’m writing this review from that perspective. If I were from out of town and needed a free place to stay reasonably close to I10, this place was fine and I absolutely would stay again. The roads are wide, it’s very accessible and the camping spots were easy to pull through and level. We had full cell coverage the whole time we were there.

Downsides: it’s big open desert and the spots are close enough together and you can see your neighbors and hear their generators. When we were there it was pretty busy (most spots were taken). There was a consistent stream of ATVs blasting down the road. As a Tucson native I can tell you it is close to none of the pretty or the interesting parts of Tucson (my husband disagrees with me, but I know there is closer free camping to the park).

We stayed Easter weekend and most sites were full, but we were able to find one and it was lovely. Lots of space from your neighbors. We stayed here and spent some time swimming at Patagonia State Park (where the water is still icy cold, even if it’s in the high 90s now). Area is popular with ATVs but we were far enough away we barely heard them.

Because this area checks all the boxes and we don’t want it to get too popular! We came for a long weekend with our 2 dogs and 7-year-old. The dirt road to get in was very accessible in our travel trailer and we saw multiple schoolies parked at the site too. It’s right off i17 but you can neither see nor hear the road from the camp sites. Not many campsites and you are close-ish together but lots of beautiful views to share. I took a run down the road to the other dispersed camping in this area (119? I think) and this is definitely the nicer of the two options. When we arrived on Friday evening most of the campsites were taken that would fit our rig, but if you have off road abilities there is a lot more and more beautiful sites available. We got a spot right by the gate. From our campsite there is a 1-mile walk down the road to the stream where you can see petroglyphs. This so enchanted my seven-year-old it was the only thing we did this weekend- keep walking back to the stream. The national park site is close by. The weather could not have been nicer this time of year. Good cell coverage at our site, too - at times I had 3 bars 5G Verizon.

This was our first time dry camping and we weren’t sure what to expect. The roads were clearly marked and it was easy to drive into the campsites with out 19-foot trailer. The campsites were far apart and off the road. It was easy to pull through with our trailer (no backing up). We had great cell signal from Verizon and were able to stream Disney+ easily. The site was very flat and the views were lovely. This is a very exposed area so I wouldn’t come here much later in the season- the sun and heat were already pretty intense in March.

We stayed here 3 days and 2 nights while attending a friends’ ultramarathon race at Estrella Mountain Park (which currently does not have camping). There’s not a ton of camping options in this west Phoenix metro area. The campsite was next to a very busy trailhead. The campsite was large and level and easy to back into. The mountains were lovely. There was nice desert hiking and I got a 7 mile trail run in with the dogs. There is also a shopping center not far from the park if you need anything. This would be an ideal camping area to stage a long trail run because the camping is right next to the trail head and the trails were very well maintained. We didn’t have the issues other reviewers mentioned with the reservation system and our campsite was well marked when we got there. We have a weboost and was able to do basic internet when it was turned on from that campsite. Recommend choosing a site on the right hand side of the loop, we were right by the trailhead and there was a constant stream of hikers walking by.

We stayed here for five days around the Antelope Canyon Ultras. The start line was about a half mile from our campsite, which was wonderful, but I would stay here again for this race even if it weren't so convenient.

Our arrival: Very easy. The person who checked us in at the front desk was very friendly. Our site was a back-in but we were able to pull through as there was no one in the other site next to us. Site was perfectly flat, didn't have to level.

We stayed at Wahweap (the national park campground) the last time we visited Page, and while that campground is ALSO VERY NICE, I would pick Page Lake Powell Campground again the next time we visit Page, hands down. You get nice views at Wahweap, and you can walk to the lake beach. But, Wahweap is pricier, there is zero cell reception, and the Internet is useless. Page Lake Powell Campground is cheaper, also has great views (because there are great views everywhere in Page), a really nice indoor pool/hot tub, a playground, and 5 bars 5G on Verizon. You also are closer to the amenities of Page.

Behind the campground is one of the massive red rocks formations, which was a lot of fun for my kid and dogs to play on. If you hike up the red rocks, you make it to the Page Rim trail, a 10-mile trail that runs around the city of Page. This is some of my favorite running in the world (and I have run in a lot of places). Dog/bike friendly!

In Page we did a show at the Red Heritage Indigenous entertainment hall. They were phenomenal. Highly recommend!

The Internet here was too slow to be functional for anything other than checking email. Couldn't do video calls for work. However, cell reception was great.

Any negatives to report: Not really. There were a lot of people coming and going while we were there for five days, but it was fun to meet so many people around the hot tub in our time there.

The view is amazing, the lake is sandy and warm and the park is up to what I would expect from NPS. Amazing. The Internet is totally unreliable, even if you want to do just docs and email. The drive to Page is short if you have to go work from a coffee shop, but i wouldn’t plan on working from the campsite if you have to. It wasn’t any better at the store or hotel lobby.

Wonderful, brand new playground. This isn't the right name for this RV Park, it's a KOA now, but it's got a brand new playground an a nice litle mini golf course.
