Confirmed by 11 users | Last reported on March 22, 2024This is in our top 5 boondocking locations. We could not believe how few people were there. Very quiet - a few planes and some coyotes. Generally it was clean, a few isolated areas of trash.
There are a lot of spaces that accommodate all rig sizes on both sides of the road. On the right side, the roads gets rough about 1/2 mile in, but there's plenty of spots before that point.
Caution: There's a 6000 lb GVWR bridge on Silverbell and GPS did not register it. Some of the roads are rough and the drive to avoid the bridge will add about 20 minutes to your drive. Paved roads are rougher than the dirt roads. If you access Pump Station Rd from south, the washes and dips in the road make it not desirable for a big rig.

This a great BLM site. Many sites and well spread out. Road within BLM better than asphalt road leading to it. I have low clearance vehicle and had no problems. Sunset was spectacular. Would have stayed longer but homeward bound. I will definitely be back.

We will definitely stay here again. Read the two reviews on here and even found the directional cactus and parked right by it. Nobody around us. Peaceful, quiet, relaxing. Loved our stay.

We only stayed one night in this quiet isolated beautiful desert Land but we would definitely have stayed longer if we didn’t have to be somewhere else. The sunset was incredible! The area was clean and well-maintained unlike the last place. There were very few other people camping there. We are new to Boondocking and this is how we imagined Boondocking to be. The road was rough coming in and it looked like it could get very muddy if it were raining but that was not the case this time. We will definitely visit again.

Since it's springtime, we thought it would be a nice change of pace and head south a bit. We decided on Ironwood Forest and Pump Station Rd based on the reviews I read. The first time we went, we found a great site with plenty of room for our small travel trailer. There weren't too many people around and there's at least a mile's worth of road to find spots. Most have fire rings so they are easy to find. The road to the camping as well as Pump Station Rd is perfect for biking. There were a few families there, but we found that most people just stay one night.
We loved it so much that we went back three weeks later and stayed three more days in a different spot. The scenery is beautiful and it isn't too far from home (Phoenix). The only negative thing is that there is zero shade, so bring a canopy if you want to stay outside.

I can’t tell you why we loved this place so much, but we did and we will FOR SURE be back... it was so peaceful and wonderful the entire time. A ton of spots to choose from, and the cell signal was perfect. My husband and I were able to work and stream video from our computers with no issues (AT&T). Maybe it’s because we love the desert, but being here felt so homey and comforting. Highly recommend staying here if you want a nice relaxing getaway.

While I wouldn’t make this a destination per se, the area worked great as a convenient boondocking spot within 30 min of Tucson and 25 min of Saguaro National Park.
Spots were spaced far apart and were roomy and level. The area is quite flat but still pretty with a few Saguaros and other desert trees.
Now the cons: not great for star viewing as there are city lights all around at night. There must be a to the East as we heard the occasional loud car/motorcycle cruise through every now and then. At least our campsite wasn’t super clean, we ended up picking up after previous campers.
Would definitely stay again if visiting the area.

The road in is a bit rough for the motorhome. It was about 1.5 miles of a loose gravel road. Once you turn into into the sites the road gets better. Quiet sites with beautiful views. Sites are pretty level, we didn’t need to get the blocks out.

Spot on with what most others have said.
Level, quiet, clean, beautiful sunset/rise. Note there is a 3ton weight limit on silverbell, so most will have to take n trico to w el tiro to n pump station. It only adds a few minutes to your drive.
We turned right instead of left and went back towards the wash (last site on the right). We were able to find some wood from the dead trees falling/rotting apart. We were told if you go to the left it goes back pretty far and there are many sites. Sites have decent distance between each other, we only has one neighbor on our side of the road.
We felt safe here as well.
