Great spot! We stopped here for two nights to break up the drive from Denver to Helena, MT. When we pulled in, we were greeted by several beautiful horses! There is about a mile of road that you can camp on either side. The ground is hard packed and we had no trouble driving on it in our Class C Winnebago.

The views are gorgeous between the mountains, cows and horses. It's about a 20 minute drive into the town of Buffalo. We had good Verizon and were able to get some work done there. There is very slight noise from the road below (which is very steeply graded heading back into Buffalo), but I am a light sleeper and it wasn't bad at all!

We loved staying here! There is actually a lot of camping before you get to the trail head. The road up is dirt and a little washboard, but we had NO problem at all in our 25-foot Winnebago Class C Motorhome. This is such a convenient location, 25 minutes to Vail, Frisco or Silverthorne. We had great Verizon wireless, there are cell towers at the top of the pass. We work from the road and had no connectivity issues.

The road is busy during the day with ATVs and vehicles driving up to the trail head, but its a small price to pay for gorgeous, FREE views! Highly recommend this spot.

Some of the side roads are a bit washed out, but we made it going slowly over potholes to some of the primo spots. We moved around 3 different times during our 2 weeks here!

We camped here in mid-September and sadly our views were obstructed by the thick smoke from the wildfires out west. Even with the haze, it was a beautiful spot to spend a few days. There are 3 free "loops" before the pay campground. We found a great spot in the first loop on the bluff. There are access points down to the stone beach and it was great to walk the pups. Most spots have picnic tables and stone fire rings.

The road in is dusty and can be a bit washboard in spots, but very easy to drive on. Rigs of any size can fit here and there are so many spots to choose from!

We had great Verizon service while there and were able to get work done. The paid campsite next door allows you to fill up water for free! There is a dump station for a small fee, but we didn't use it. It's about a 45-50 minute drive into Helena, which is a great town to check out while you're here!

This is a fantastic boondocking spot that is WAY better than the RV parks we saw downtown. Follow Airport Road past the airport until you can’t go any further and you’ll come to Valdez Glacier Lake. You’ll enjoy beautiful scenery and fire pits without being packed in like sardines. 😉 It’s about a 15 minute drive into town.

There is a public shooting range on this road and you will hear the gunshots, however they stopped most nights by 9:30 and didn’t begin again until the next morning around 8:30 am. I'm a very light sleeper and I wasn’t bothered by them at all. We did walk around a few of the RV parks in town and they are gravel lots with full hook-ups. We could see this being ideal if you are fishing in town and want to be close to the harbor.

We had very solid Verizon service and were even able to stream Netflix at night! We also have T-Mobile and Sprint and they were nonexistent here.

Make sure you got to Roadside Potatohead in town for either breakfast or dinner (we went twice). It's delicious and if you're there on a mild day they have a fantastic patio!

We stayed in early December and it was great. We were practically the only ones on the beach and had the entire place to ourselves. The bugs were pretty vicious (not biting, just covering the car & RV) before the sun went down.

The sand is packed pretty nicely, so driving out and finding a level spot wasn't a problem at all.

We made a small campfire on the beach and watched the gorgeous sunset.

If you're looking for a place to boondock right on the beach, it doesn't get much better than this!

We stayed here for a week over Christmas and were lucky enough to score a promo they had going on, saving us a bit of money. The front desk staff was very friendly upon check-in. They showed us the open spots on a map and let us pick which one we wanted after driving around.

Some claim the are is a bit rough... its not. It's an industrial area that is plenty safe. There are 2 roadside motels next door, but otherwise nothing that would make us feel unsafe. Shopping like Walmart, grocery stores, etc. is all nearby as well.

It's a smaller RV park, but you can tell they take good care of it. The bathrooms near the pool were just renovated and VERY nice.

The pool and hot tub were great. We used the hot tub quite a few evenings, although one night the chlorine was so strong we had to leave.

The proximity to downtown San Antonio can't be beat. We took the bus (the stop is directly across the street from the park entrance) and also Uber to and from the city. We also biked along the river walk path to a few of the Missions nearby.

We would definitely recommend this RV Park and would stay again next time we're in the area.

We have loved discovering all of the FREE camping Colorado has to offer. This is a neat little campground run by Denver Water that has designated campsites right on the reservoir. There is decent Verizon service on the South East camping area of the lake as previously mentioned by another reviewer. The more picturesque spots under the trees as soon as you come down the hill had zero connectivity for us, which was a problem since we needed to work. Our spot across the lake was still beautiful. During our stay at the end of August, there were about 7 other rigs. It was still peaceful and everyone was respectful with generators and noise.

There are pit toilets and trash cans throughout plus fire rings and picnic tables. There's even a dump station on site which is amazing!

We drove into nearby Granby one day to upload some work for faster internet and it was about a 25 minute (very scenic) drive into town.

This is one of our favorite free campsites in Colorado. First... it's HUGE. There are so many meandering roads back into the woods. I spent about 45 minutes driving various roads scouting out spots. Tons of options! We ended up driving down the main dirt road to another left hand pull off, driving a bit back that road and finding a gorgeous spot overlooking a ridge with views of the mountains.

We had decent Verizon service and were able to do basic work on our computers. When we needed to do heavier uploads, we drove 15 minutes into town and ate at the great Cuban restaurant, Buchi, and sat at their covered, outdoor patio. The food there, as well as Mountain High Pies is great.

Some of the roads into the secluded spots can be a bit tricky to navigate but we got our Class C in no problem taking it slow. I saw a ton of big rigs tucked away too.

There is so much to love about this dispersed camping area! It's situated just above Creede and has some of the most beautiful views we've ever seen. There are plenty of easily accessible sites right off the main dirt road for larger rigs and if you have a smaller rig, you can drive up the hill to find even more beautiful areas to camp. We were there over Labor Day weekend and aside from a few ATVs, it was quiet. It's a 5 minute drive into town (there's plenty of great shopping and dining in downtown Creede) and there's even a dump station and fresh water fill right in town as well. We love this spot!

This is a 💎MUST DO💎 at low tide! It's incredible to walk out on the ocean floor and see all the sea creatures and seaweed. Just be sure to check the tides before heading out!
