Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on October 17, 2023The scenery here is amazing! Most evenings we were surrounded by a large herd of cattle 🐮. There is a nice, moderate hiking trail here and this site is close to a beautiful scenic drive or just a short drive down to Buffalo. This is our favorite boondocking spot because the evenings are cool and there is so much to do close by during the day. It is close to the highway so you get a small amount of traffic noise during the day. The road in and out is gravel with some washboard but very accessible by any size rig. There is plenty of room to turn around and also to have a little place to yourself.

Fantastic dispersed camping area right off highway 16. The sites aren’t marked though some areas seem flatter than others due to previous use. Great spot for any size rig! Our 21’ 5th wheeL made it out here just fine.
There is some noise from the nearby highway but it’s not too bad. A large heard of cattle can also be heard from across the road as well.
Overall great spot! The views are incredible and sunsets are amazing! Very wide open, spacious, and easy to get to.

Amazing views, plenty of space, very quiet. Just watch out for the cow chips, as depending on where you park, there can be... a lot of them.

Great spot! We stopped here for two nights to break up the drive from Denver to Helena, MT. When we pulled in, we were greeted by several beautiful horses! There is about a mile of road that you can camp on either side. The ground is hard packed and we had no trouble driving on it in our Class C Winnebago.
The views are gorgeous between the mountains, cows and horses. It's about a 20 minute drive into the town of Buffalo. We had good Verizon and were able to get some work done there. There is very slight noise from the road below (which is very steeply graded heading back into Buffalo), but I am a light sleeper and it wasn't bad at all!

we pulled in after dark and were worried about finding a level spot....but no problem. In the morning we had a wonderful view. We were there on a Wednesday night and there were maybe 10 other campers there. Plenty of room for everyone and nice and quiet. We would recommend this place!

Boondocking site in the Bighorn National Forest. Only 11 miles west of Buffalo, WY off Rt 16.
Easy access on gravel road to a field that is relatively flat.
Called the Grouse Lake dispersed camping area.
Good phone signal; 4 bars for Verizon.
Nice view of Bighorn Mountains to the west.
A few other boondockers scattered here and there- this is late in the season, though.

Driving up from Buffalo, Wy on Hwy 16 to here was a beautiful drive. The road was paved and in excellent shape although you go up in elevation gradually, the views were amazing. When we arrived we had gottten a winter weather advisory and did receive about 1 ft of snow which added to the wow factor. We will definitely be coming back here

We stayed here for 5 days. Had ample space. Great Mountain View’s and the most beautiful sunset and sunrises.
Few other RVs in the area but the space is HUGE and spreading out is easy to do.
Verizon and t mobile both have service.
Our favorite place so far!

Absolutely drop dead gorgeous boondocking site! 10-11 miles west of Buffalo WY. On the way to Yellowstone and Tetons. We stopped here on a Thursday in early June. Wildflowers covered the hills. So many nice spots to choose from! We are in a 40’ Fifth wheel and extra vehicle - no problems what so ever (and my husband is anal about leveling!) I would stay here and skip Yellowstone if I could!
