Seriously beautiful. Out of all the falls in the Ithaca area, I felt this was the most impressive though it's also one of the more visited locations. For a locals favorite check out Ludlowville Falls on the Eastern side of the lake just 30 mins north of Itahca.
This place is TOTALLY worth going to. If you're visiting outside of the summer, be sure that it's open for swimming (though it's still worth checking out). We went and recent floods made it un-swimmable. There is a fee for parking and a limit to spots available so pack everyone into the car or get dropped off at the entrance. On hot summer days there is a line of cars to get in that can last up to 2 hrs. It's absolutely breath taking when you arrive. I can't believe the minerals really do leave it this light blue color. A few nice hikes around if you're not the swimming type!
Went to this beach - I guess it's a beach? Great local spot for the kids to hang and definitely a place to dunk. Nothing extremely special but then again...it's a beach in Ohio! Town of Batavia nearby is pretty darn cute. I recommend the hiking and camping for sure.
Idaho winter activities mecca. It's not easy to get to so if you're headed here you probably know someone that lives nearby (or has gone before). A classic ski town where things are expensive and the mountain is the best thing around. It's more expensive and secluded than most resorts so skiing is certainly less crowded. Had an absolute blast in some of the soft-core bowls.
Historic depot. On the national historic register. It's the only old rail station left in the county. It is what it is
My favorite bar in OTR with an amazing patio. Dogs and babies permitted. Check out the second floor if it gets nippy. Little known fact that you can bring food up there, so enjoy your tacos from Gomez on a winter day nearby their pool table or take a serving of the delish burgers that come off the skillet in the patio most nights. Vine coverage in the arboretum style patio so hope you're not allergic.
Really great neighborhood pub slightly more upscale than the Milton's or MOTR nearby. Older than the college crowd farther south on Main St. which makes for a nice glass of wine or even a rowdier session with some local brews over their copy tables. You can take bottles to go too. Big ol picnic table and a legit bar with a presence. Relaxed and polished.
This is absolutely worth it. It's a self-guided tour and you'll usually have a few others along with you if you visit on the weekend, but still call ahead! He's friendly and willing to talk about the site. It's mammoth and mind blowingly structurally sound. You'll wish you could tent up and treehouse for the night. It's inspiring. Best part? He's still adding to this site so it will forever change and if you send junk his way by mail you may see something you recognize! As I walked out and asked a question he'd probably heard a million times "is there some kind of structure under here?" he replied simply, "everything is everything." And now I think I worship him.
Incredibly impressive craftsmanship - you'll certainly leave wishing you'd met the legendary Fite who built this by hand! Touching story and moving place to go if you're human and have an appreciation for will power and art.
It's the real deal with a cool view of the riverfront. Tours available.
