Note: this is not about Bkack Sands Resort but the boondocking noted And the original post. When we arrived it was 103 degrees. After getting setup & taking a dip the flies came, then gnats and other bugs. It was still 98 degrees at 11pm when the wind blew sand everywhere. If that wasn’t bad enough when I was hooking up in the morning, a whole new set of bugs attacked. While getting Propane, the local said oh yeah we fish there but never camp because of the bugs.

Spent a week on a grassy spot. Enjoyed the quiet, sunsets, stars & quiet. They drain the reservoir and you can see geese, ducks & cranes. Only a few bugs and some road noise during the day.
Lots of dispersed camping around the lake & campground if you want hook-ups.

Whole road full of potholes. Old boat halfway blocking the road & covered with painting. People living here and lots of their trash. Drove through & didn't stay. Whole road has potholes. Just not worth it. Go down the road to Keechelus Lake.

There are a few Boondocking spots for larger rigs right on the road and more for vans/tents on side roads. Stay a few days to explore the incredible rock art. Don’t follow Google’s instructions. Take the five Bridges Road which turns to the left and becomes Casa Diablo Mine Road. We went in a mile after the pavement ends. Unless you have four-wheel-drive, you won’t want to go to much further past a mile and a half. Bishop is a great place to stock up. There was some truck traffic during the day

I reserved one of the non-hookup sites. After traveling up the coast with days of no sun, rain & fog, the Ranger Was nice enough to let me move to a full-hookup site. Not much space but I got some sun and beautiful views.
Cell coverage is fluctuated between 3 bars 4G, 3G & nothing. Verizon was Picking up from Canada.

Spacious and wide open. Good cell signal. Great sunsets. Some traffic noise from the highway, but it dies down at night.

Didn’t want my view to be the mine tailings and needed decent Verizon reception, so drove a little over 5 miles - left at immigration sign. First 2 miles of road is worst and looks recently graded. Had 2 bars 5G, boosted to full bars 4G. Beautiful 360 views, no neighbors, absolute quiet & little traffic.
