If you go past the bar there is free camping which is where we go! These sites are boon-docking to the max. They have a nice beach and an amazing view of strike. Fishing is not to bad.

Note: this is not about Bkack Sands Resort but the boondocking noted And the original post. When we arrived it was 103 degrees. After getting setup & taking a dip the flies came, then gnats and other bugs. It was still 98 degrees at 11pm when the wind blew sand everywhere. If that wasn’t bad enough when I was hooking up in the morning, a whole new set of bugs attacked. While getting Propane, the local said oh yeah we fish there but never camp because of the bugs.

If you are lucky to score one of these free sites along CJ Strike it can be a nice or horrible experience. We last camped here over Thanksgiving 2021 for 3 nights, but we've camped here twice before, once in April & once in September. There are approximately 8 dispersed camp sites along the shore west of Black Sands RV Resort and they vary from good to bad as far as levelness of terrain and beach access. CONS: Roads in can be bumpy. Buggy no matter what time of year. Can get windy most afternoons. Also, Mountain Home AFB is nearby and they do nighttime maneuvers right overhead. Other RV'ers drop off their rigs to hold spots, allow their "friendly" dogs to run around off leash and leave their trash everywhere. ADVISE AGAINST WALKING BAREFOOT BECAUSE OF THE BROKEN GLASS AND BOTTLECAPS. Puncture vine/goatheads are out of control. Generator noise and some RV's look to be squatters. PROS: Fire rings at most sites. At times the water can be serene. Good shoreline fishing access. FREE, FREE, FREE. Sometimes free makes it worth it for us.
