From the initial call we found the staff to be extremely friendly here. The resort is clean and well taken care of. The restrooms and laundry facilities are very nice. Unfortunately during our stay the pool was closed for cleaning. This was a big disappointment as, other than the pool, the resort is not very kid friendly. They have quite a few rules prohibiting the use of various things i.e. scooters, roller blades, motorized bikes/scooters. The sites are quite small and there are no fire rings or picnic tables. It’s definitely more for long term renters but it fit our needs for a short weekend stay.

We had a great stay here for 6 weeks while working for Amazon Camperforce. The park is beautiful with plenty of amenities for the entire family. Would love to come back in the warmer months to enjoy the pool as it’s not heated. The Retreat is close enough to downtown but far enough away to give that camping vibe. Only drawback is there are no walkways from the camp sites to the office so you tend to have inconsiderate campers walking through your site.

We had an awesome 3 night stay in early March. The sand is hard packed and we navigated the beach easily in our 32’ class c. We entered at access 1 and exited at access 2. We felt safe the entire time however the beach was only patrolled on the weekends.
Kamp Klamath was the perfect base camp for exploring Redwoods and the surrounding area. The park is well maintained by very friendly and helpful staff. They had a nice trail system to the river. Their store/office had local eggs and a solid beer selection. The laundry was small but fairly priced. It’s well suited for tent campers and RVs alike.

Came here because everywhere else was booked for TX spring break. Although its a ways from everything else, we were pleasantly surprised with our visit. The trails were nice and gave you a different vibe from trail to trail. We saw Javelinas and Road Runners and heard coyotes at all hours.

Great location- walking distance to the beach and short drive to the National Seashore. Price is great especially with the TX State park pass. The only negatives are you’re basically camping in a parking lot and you have to share the restrooms/showers with beach goers that aren’t camping

Perfect for fishing and paddle boarding. On the bay side so no waves and little wind. Wish we would have skipped mustang island and come straight here. It’s primitive but there is a dump station up the road

We had a great experience at Goose Island. There were a few airboats but not enough to ruin the view and fishing. Only negative was that our neighbor had 2 fishing rods stolen from his site(he left them out on the picnic table). Be sure to visit the Big Tree!

This park is very nice and has the best playgrounds of any state park we’ve been to. Reasons for not getting a five stars.. The water pressure at the fill station was not good. There were RVs lined up for quite a while trying to get water. The first site we tried was incredibly unlevel and had very little gravel left (it looked like some sites had new gravel so hopefully they’re fixing this). Finally the power boxes are very far from the sites. They do warn you about this prior to booking and it wasn’t an issue for our 2nd site.
