We loved it here. It looks like Joanna Gaines designed it. The have a lot of nice touches on this campground. Easy to get anywhere.

We're weren't sure what we would find given the last and only review was so long ago. From the main road, you'll see a BLM sign. Pull in and you will see a huge lot on the right that houses giant piles of gravel and stuff like that. There were a lot of tractors working through this area and so we felt uneasy just setting up camp there right in the middle. So, we walked down the side road (about 1 min) to scope it out before bringing out trailer and found a little area (plenty big enough for our 40ft fifth wheel). Clearly people have camped here before as there were fire rings, etc. There are no signs telling us camping is or is not allowed, so we're still hoping its ok that we're here. It does say BLM, so I'm assuming its ok....and one of the tractor employees talked to us and didn't say anything about us camping here. Memorial Day Weekend and not one other camper.

We have privacy and access to trails. My kids and dog are having a blast just running around and being free. Flat enough and level for a big rig. We really like it here.

I can’t believe this place is free. I thought it was gonna be right off the road but there’s this whole little camping area with beautiful views and a lot of privacy. Plenty of firings. The 1st mile is a horrible washboard road but after that it seems more like an old pavement. We didn’t drive back very far before we found a great place to camp.

We tried to make reservations and they were full and said that they book up a year in advance in the summer months.

We’ve always heard great things about Haviland Lake in the past, but unfortunately the lake has been almost entirely drained. Don’t get me wrong, it was still pretty, but not what it would’ve been. Other people have complained of mosquitoes and while we noticed some, they didn’t deter us from being outside and I wouldn’t let them stop you.

Our campsite said it would fit a 40 footer. We have a 40 foot bumper to bumper fifth wheel and we did not have a 1/2 inch to spare. The angles were difficult and it’s not for the faint of heart... and that’s with exceptional skills.

In the general, the whole campground is tight. There might be other sites that would work for a big rig but we will not be going back to that site again, and probably not any of the other ones either. It was too nailbiting and perhaps too early to offer my husband a beer.

Verizon has 1 bar and only good for text. ATT was marginally better and could sometimes get calls and some data.

Otherwise, it was absolutely beautiful... even with no water. If you’re reading this review next year, I can’t imagine that the link will fill up all that fast given that it’s almost entirely empty. Haviland is fed off of the lake to the north and that link is also drained and will need to get filled first.

Please note, I did not end up staying here....so take my review with a grain of salt. I felt punished when I was told there was an $8 charge per kid under 10. It feels like a punishment. I went somewhere else that was just as nice for $50/night. This campground would have been over $70.
