March 2018 on the way from New Mexico to Las Vegas, stayed 2 nights at this lovely RV Park, $20.00 per night with Passport America. There are trails that go straight to Tucson Mountain Park and Saguaro National Park right from this RV park, Pixie our Jack Russell Terrier and I took advantage of these beautiful trails. See photo!

November 2021.
Beautiful Park, we stopped to use the dog park, we missed it at first, it is on the left at the beginning of the park.

November 2021. On our travels we stopped here because of their large dog parks. Our Pixie loved to stretch her legs and run unter the large pines, at first in the big dogs park area, although some of the large dogs were a bit to much for her so we went to the adjacent little dogs park area. Both are very clean and spacious.

We were en route to New Mexico via Colorado Springs. This is the first time we have stayed at the year round Wilson State Park. We traveled on October 26, 2021.

This is a beautiful, very hilly, large state park. There are several small campgrounds in this park, we stayed at the Wheatgrass Campground. Our site #45 was a pull through site, plenty of room for our truck and 30ft fifth wheel, this loop has power and water hookup, $21.00 per night. We spent 3 nights do to high winds, too risky to travel. After we left we saw a semi truck that was blown over by the wind.
We are self contained so we don't need toilets or a shower house, therefore I can't comment on that. I know the closest to our location is about 1800 feet.
If you come after hours you have to register yourself and pay an additional $2.75, total cost 23.75, which is a bargain.
We are already planning to stay here next time on our way to New Mexico. We loved this place especially since we were the only campers at this campsite and could walk our Pixie our Jack Russell Terrier off leash .

BEST FREE camping! There are only 20 sites, first come first serve. Accepts Big Rigs, pull through, no electric, water and RV dump behind the Hatchery building, pit toilets, free rowboats, you need to bring your own equipment, tables, grill, pet friendly. Nice walk with the dog through the woods along the lake. We traveled with our 30 foot Fifth-wheel in late October, only 2 other RV's were present, I can imagine on a warm weekends and in summer this place is very busy. This is a clean and quiet park. I can't believe it's free! Thank you MO!

As the comment for this campground mentions, no RV or trailer bigger then 16 feet is permitted to camp at this campground. This picture was not taken at this location.

We camped at Rusty's RV Ranch 4 miles north of the Chiricahua Desert Museum and drove into the Mountains with our Truck, the Road is paved and there are many places to park and enjoy Cave Creek Canyon.
