We were en route to New Mexico via Colorado Springs. This is the first time we have stayed at the year round Wilson State Park. We traveled on October 26, 2021.
This is a beautiful, very hilly, large state park. There are several small campgrounds in this park, we stayed at the Wheatgrass Campground. Our site #45 was a pull through site, plenty of room for our truck and 30ft fifth wheel, this loop has power and water hookup, $21.00 per night. We spent 3 nights do to high winds, too risky to travel. After we left we saw a semi truck that was blown over by the wind.
We are self contained so we don't need toilets or a shower house, therefore I can't comment on that. I know the closest to our location is about 1800 feet.
If you come after hours you have to register yourself and pay an additional $2.75, total cost 23.75, which is a bargain.
We are already planning to stay here next time on our way to New Mexico. We loved this place especially since we were the only campers at this campsite and could walk our Pixie our Jack Russell Terrier off leash .
