Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on September 05, 2022This spot has a lot to offer. Well-maintained sites with fire rings and picnic tables. A lake with complimentary rowboats you can use. Dump station, rinse water, potable water, bathrooms. The water is still on in mid December and they appear to be frost-free hydrants. Plus, the campground is open year 'round. I didn't see any place to leave a donation.
All of the sites are on a gently sloping hill leading down to the lake, so side-to-side leveling will be necessary pretty much everywhere.
I can hear some road traffic from Hwy 36, but the campground gets very quiet at nighttime. There isn't much light pollution either so night sky viewing is awesome!

20-24 spots all with picnic tables and fire rings. Potable water on property but not at each lot. There is a dump station here but it is a square hole in the ground in the middle of the road behind the maintenance barn. Kinda hard to find. Several people came thru to fish in the lake but no campers until the weekend! We will definitely keep it on the list as a place to return!

Beautiful and clean and free! Few other campers for the 3 nights I was here but plenty of locals coming to fish and also some employees who work at the conservation building and fish hatchery. Not buggy during my time here. 1-2 bars consumer cellular service. Charged my phone at the outlet by the coke machine. Highly recommend!

It doesn’t have all the amenities of many campgrounds but it’s clean and free. Our AT&T cell phones worked fine. We were able to keep up with House of Dragons from our tent. No running water or showers available

Easy access. Great location on the water with a fish cleaning station and free paddle boats to use. You need to bring your own life vests. Sites have fire pits and picnic tables. The restroom was as clean as can be expected. Really appreciated the potable water access. Absolutely would come back.

Only 3 miles down a paved road we arrived to a gently sloped campground with grass pull through sites complete with picnic table and fire squares! We had no issue leveling our 40’ 5th wheel.
Although a few sites had newer picnic tables ours would have made good fire wood and was too heavy to switch out.
There is no electric, but potable water and a dump is located on the lake side of the building below the campground, there is also a large dumpster.
There were only 3 tent campers there and one class A, and although the weather turned cold and windy while we were there, we felt confident the ground would stay solid under us.
We were told the lake had great fishing from the shore but the weather wouldn’t allow that with the wind.
We are self contained with generators so would actually stay here longer than the 2 day stop over.

BEST FREE camping! There are only 20 sites, first come first serve. Accepts Big Rigs, pull through, no electric, water and RV dump behind the Hatchery building, pit toilets, free rowboats, you need to bring your own equipment, tables, grill, pet friendly. Nice walk with the dog through the woods along the lake. We traveled with our 30 foot Fifth-wheel in late October, only 2 other RV's were present, I can imagine on a warm weekends and in summer this place is very busy. This is a clean and quiet park. I can't believe it's free! Thank you MO!
