Spacious sites in this national forest campground and many sites situated right on the lake. We had wooden stairs to the lake with a platform we could set our chairs on to enjoy the view with our morning coffee. We were also able to launch and tie up our canoe at the base of the stairs. We had no neighbors on our weekday visit. I would imagine it might get busier on weekends. We will definitely be back.

If you’re there in July, bring bug spray

Not our first stay here. It was a nice overnight on our way home from northern Wisconsin. The site we had abutted trees on the back side, otherwise we were Closely surrounded. The 30 am didn’t work at our site, but we have an adapter so we were good to go and fortunately didn’t need to use the air. Surprisingly there were little to no mosquitoes, making sitting outside pleasant. The site was fairly level. There are showers, a couple dump stations, potable water and firewood available.

We arrived after the booth was closed for the day and walk up check in was confusing. There were various fees listed for the sites with mention of a tax, but not how much the tax was. There was also a 10% senior discount, so I just wrote a check for the fee - discount + tax and just ended up paying the $30 campsite fee and hoping that covered it.

All sites are paved and most are level with varying lengths. The campground itself is off a busy city street and you do get road noise regardless of where you park. The showers definitely need updating. There were three showers in the ladies restroom, but one was broken (the whole shower head was laying on the floor). There is a dump station. and There was a water spigot at every site, which was convenient. It was a decent stop on our way through, but definitely not a destination.

We stayed here for the first time and are definitely planning to return. We have a 24 foot travel trailer and there were several sites that could accommodate us. There are also quite a few sites that would be great for tent camping since they were definitely not level enough for a trailer. The road in is tight, but we did pass another trailer as we left and there was plenty of room for each to pass. Pit toilets were clean and had plenty of TP. We took a day trip to Drummond Island and enjoyed it.

Large campground with electric only at sites. Some sites had water spigots nearby. Some, but not all had picnic tables, but all had charcoal or wood grills. No fire pits. The sites were gravel with grass and some trees between neighboring sites. When we arrived there was one other camper, but a few others arrived later in the day. It was very quiet. There is a dump station which we did use. All in all a good place for us to stop and rest on our way to Glacer.

We were here on a Monday night and the campground was virtually ours. We did note from the reserved tags on the sites that it appears to fill on weekends. Although it was rainy, we enjoyed a pleasant overnight stop on our way out west. Sites are separated nicely by trees and shrubbery. There was was some leveling needed, but nothing major. There is a dump station and potable water as well as a central shower building. The campground loops had pit toilets. We decided to give this campground a try after having stayed at the other COE campground on the same lake and would definitely return. $13 was the senior rate for an electric site.

We used this campground for an overnight on our way home from Yellowstone National Park. It was a quiet, peaceful experience. There were probably 8 other campers, but you would never know it until you walked the campground loops. Great separation of sites. Ours was level enough that we didn’t have to unhook the trailer, making an early departure in the morning to be on our way possible with minimal effort. Would definitely return.

We stayed here 8/10 - 8/16 in two different sites.
This is a large national forest campground just north of the town of West Yellowstone with both electric and non-electric sites. Some pull through, but most back in sites. Water available throughout the campground, but no dump station. Wonderful hosts who stay on top of things without being intrusive. Clean pit toilets. Some road noise from nearby Hwy 191 and the airport, but things quiet down at night. There were several nights during our stay that the campground did not fill, which was surprising.

We stayed for two nights midweek and the place was practically empty. Three other sites were occupied so it was quite peaceful. Not sure what it’s like on the weekend. We had our canoe with us and had Ess Lake to ourselves, despite the many houses that dot the shoreline not part of the campground. We had a very pleasant stay and would definitely return.

Larger COE campground that’s reservation only, however you can make your reservation at recreation.gov with no fees. Sites are electric only. There is a booth at the front to provide assistance in finding a site that’s suitable for your stay. We were there for an overnight, so our criteria was level, easy access and near a bathhouse, which we were able to get with no problem. Campsites are long, paved, and level with a picnic table and fire ring. Grass and trees provide shade with a fair separation of sites. The shower/bathhouse had four separate showers on one side of the building with the restrooms on the opposite side. The building was very clean and appeared to be fairly new. The campground was also fairly quiet in spite of being nearly full on a Sunday night. Would definitely return.
