Sem Villa is actually a retirement home but it's a really nice place to run through as it's essentially a big, quiet park. There's loads of wildlife around here, I've spotted foxes and badgers on runs through here. The main road also dead-ends into the Terrace Park Country Club golf course which is also really nice to run through.
I've not eaten here but I walked in the other night for a late-night breakfast after the bars closed and even after a few drinks, the place smelled so bad that I turned around and walked out. I'm usually a pretty fearless eater but the risk for food poisoning was almost palpable. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone which is a shame because the space itself is pretty cool.
This is a really unique (in a classic retro sort of tacky but cool way) place to go visit. You can get an ice cream and walk along the beach, get some nice views of downtown Chicago from here.
They have so-so brunch. It's good if you're in a bind and can't get in for brunch elsewhere, but the eggs Benedict were always over-cooked and the hollandaise not that good.
Not sure how much the cruises cost but I've been on a couple of them at night and they're really cool. It's definitely worth doing for a special event.
The campus is ok...it's a nice college campus but if you're in Chicago looking to visit a college campus, you should visit either UChicago or Northwestern. DePaul is right in the middle of Lincoln Park so you might wind up walking through it. Nothing really to note.
Really not a fan. They're so pretentious about the entire thing that you'd think you were about to eat the holy grail of contemporary American cuisine, and the food itself was a let-down! The attitude and the pricetag don't live up to what they claim.
Definitely worth exploring. It's not that big so there's not loads to see. Great places to get some Dim Sum on the weekends though!
Such a beautiful campus, if you're in the area it's worth walking around and exploring. The architecture spans from gothic to contemporary and is truly a treat. They do offer guided tours but if you want to do your own thing, some highlights for me are: Robie House by Frank Lloyd Wright, Booth School of Business, William Eckhardt Research Center, William Rainey Harper Memorial Library, the main quad, Rockefeller Memorial Chapel and the Smart Museum.
I love Sharon Woods. It's a huge park with running trails through the woods as well as paved and a bunch of smaller playground areas. It's nice for hiking or running and generally just being in nature. There's a running path that goes around a small lake - about 2.8 miles - so one or a couple of loops is a really nice run.
