We stopped here as part of our Amazing Race family trip out West. It has been over 2 weeks now since our visit and my kids our still talking about it as one of their favorite clues (we had over 60!!). Get there early as spots fill up, take water, sunscreen and a towel. We also took our lunch in as its a small walk back and forth to parking lot. Wear shoes with a grip-we saw sooo many people fall as it gets really slippery. We were shocked at how cold the water was but it felt soo good on a hot day. Our 2 youngest rode down the large rock slide on our backs but our 13 year old rode down by himself. I would advise women to wear shorts over their swimsuit as my daughter and I both had rock burns on our rears after riding down several times...totally worth it though! We also completed the Jr. Ranger badge here and not only do the kiddos get badges but they also get a very neat poster. Great family stop!!!

We stayed the night here as it answerd one of our clues for our families Amazing Race out west. The kids were excited to see the "cones" from the Cars Movie. The young blonde teenage girl at the front was super helpful, she allowed us to change wigwams as ours had an awful smell from some water work being done. We were cozy (family of 5) in the wigwam and loved exploring the old cars on the property. We were disappointed in the lack of restaurants around here...we thought there would surely be a soda pop joint or cafe...but we ended up at DQ which was literally 1 of the 2 places close by. We also found the Cultural Indian dances going on downtown that night and it added a nice end to our night!!

We went through the Painted Desert/Petrified Forest as part of our Family Amazing Race out west. The kids earned their Junior Ranger badge and we loved the fact that most of it was drive through. We did stop and hike the Blue Mesa trail---which I would recommend for kids..just long enough and interesting!!! We were very impressed with the Petroglyphs and newspaper rock too. They also enjoyed the Rainbow musuem at the end and being able to see large pieces of petrified wood. I would recommend you give yourself plenty of time to drive through and make the stops you want to..I think we ended up stopping 5 times and with the hike included we were probably there 3.5ish hours!

This particular Quality Inn is in the roughest part of town and is not safe for a family with kids. Although the size of the room we got for the cost was very impressive, it wasn't super clean. We had to be on constant watch for homeless people---they were aggressive and jumped the fence to get into the pool while our kids were swimming. I was looking forward to a safe indoor workout in the morning but the fitness room was disgusting. Cockroaches everywhere (dead and alive), a broken treadmill and weight bench. Only 2 different handweights that didn't match and a room that had obviously not be cleaned in several days. The breakfast offered was ok but the only fresh option were the snack size apples and oranges. Juan, was the bright spot in our stay there as he offered us many ideas for some scenic views of the city and opened up the laundry room for me.

We stopped here around lunctime as it answered one of the clues for our Amazing Race family trip out West. To get their next clue our kids had to pick up trash as well as spray paint. It had recently rained but we walked through mud to make our mark! Its a neat experience and something you don't see everyday. Plus, everytime we watch Cars now our kids point out the rock Cadillacs sticking up out of the ground in the scenery around Radiator Springs!

We loved camping in the new tent sites. We didn't get to hike to lighthouse due to storms the night before but we loved the Rojo Grande--easy enough for our 5,7, and 13 year old. We stayed here two night as part of our Amazing Racy out West and would love to go back to see Texas as it was not playing the nights we were there either. The store was clean and although we didn't eat there it looked good. The Jr. Ranger program was fun and the patches are pretty nice. We saw tons of animals and the facilites at our campsite were clean!

A beautiful way to walk through the stations and talk about the sacrifice and obedience of Jesus. Our kids loved reading each stations plate and talking about what was going on. The tomb, last supper and crucifix scene are well done. The statue to the side of Michael trampling Satan was the answer to one of our clues for our 15 day Amazing Race family trip out west. The gift shop is also a great spot to visit and the bathrooms are really nice! You can see the cross from the interstate, even though it almost gets lost in the sea of windmills!

We could have spent a lot longer here but only had 1.5 hours as it was an answer to one of our clues on our Amazing Race Family trip out west. We only did the exterior sites but our kids were very interested in the stories behind all of the wreaths and letters outside attached to the fence. We looked at the statue of Jesus weeping, counted the chairs, observed the large memorials that are time stamped and went to see the wall filled with children's prayers and letters. It led to a great conversation about how to handle anger and how our actions can hurt others. I would love to go back and tour the inside as well! Parking could have been tricky but we went on a Sunday.

The sweetest owners. I was super impressed with the cleanliness of the bathroom and site. We stopped here for our first night on our 15 day Amazing Race Family trip out West. The owners had a candy scavenger hunt for the kids and a late night movie. There was a reunion going on but there was still plenty of activities for all. We played gaga ball, took kayaks out into the pond, played basketball and swam. This KOA also observed the 10 o'clock quiet hour which I really appreciated. We used the back corner lot and had plenty of room to spread out.
