Although we arrived after hours, Deborah the owner cam and assisted our entrance. The campground has ne owners for about a year and obviously owned with love. The common areas are nicely kept especially the laundry and shower facility. There is a walking path to town from the property that is well-maintained and convenient to use. Wi-Fi was satisfactory. We did have electrical issues that were related to lower than expected voltage at the pool, being worked on in another area. It didn’t trip or progressive EMS, but did cause intermittent outage in our RV for a day.

Campground was very noisy with cussing etc till 12:30am. When booking, I was unaware of Good Sam discount…nothing on website, but on door on arrival. Young lady checking me in said we wer already charged and no discount could be offered. Be sure to ask for Good Sam discount when you book. We had a nearly level dry site for $55/nite. A little steep for dry camping. Did not use any amenities.

Clean and spacious campground at fairgrounds, but you share the electric and water poles with other campers. We were with friends, so a non issue, but saw others searching for site numbers and leaving. Site numbers are imbedded in the pavement and not easy to find. Cell service for Verizon was 5G. Did not use the facilities.

State park campground with cement pads, little to no shade, but full hook ups for $27.00. Pass Code to enter. Park was not full and got same day reservation by calling campground. Lake views. Both 30 and 50 amp at site. Quiet, no road noise.

Quick off the road stop for the night. Beautiful views all around in a quiet environment. No signs against overnite stays and plenty of room for truckers too.

What a wonderful experience of tasting northern Ontario products. The Rheaults have a very interesting “home” distillery, but the product they produce was fantastic. The vodka is smooth and sipping quality!. We also purchased the apple and the cherry liquors, although they had several other liquors and a high quality whiskey for purchase. This would make an excellent Harvest Host location.

Took Polar Bear Express for full day ride to and from Cochran Ontario to Moosonee. This is a 5 hr trip each way. Train was very comfortable with adjustable feet, legs and back. Full breakfast, lunch and dinner in cafeteria line fashion. Eating area in same car. Special was penne pasta with sausage and was very good with generous portion. Saw lots of skinny trees (tree line product) and lakes, but no wildlife this trip. You can take a water taxi to Moose Factory to learn the history of the area and partnership with the Hudson Bay Company. I was hoping to buy First Nation crafts, but a stop at Northern College in Moosonee told me otherwise. Since Covid, First Nation crafts have near disappeared. Tourism needs to return to the area with the help of ONR.

Owners Glenn & Carolyn Waddell are super welcoming and informative about the ‘pacas. Gift shop on site with lots of useful goods: sweaters, mitts, hats, fleece and yarn.

Stopped here during the week. BLM land. 3 other campers here, all with ATVs of a sort. Interesting to watch them climb the dunes. Clear dark sky night. Garbage bins were full, evident that weekends are very busy. Lots of firepits.
