If you’ve been following us for any length of time, you already know that we are state park fans. However this resort is so phenomenal!

We were welcomed in by name the minute we arrived, and were escorted to our site. We were given the run down on the amazing amenities like easy package room pickup, the wood-shop, pool, craft room, pickle ball courts, golf outings, kayaking groups, fitness center, and laundry area. This was all really exciting!

However we were blown away by the incredibly friendly people staying in the park! In just a week we met so many people from Michigan, Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Toronto, Kansas, and so on! Every evening around 4pm, there were happy hours that would start in each section of the large park 20-40 people deep! The campground is divided into 4 large circles, each with a different amenity such as the clubhouse, pickleball or billiards. Each circle had a nightly gathering. It was so great to see such community!

Just about everyday, someone new would strike up a conversation as they passed. Everyone genuinely wanted to get to know the new arrivals and welcome them in!

The birding park, Bentsen-Rio Grande, is within walking distance. There is also a bike trail at the entrance that goes for miles through Mission!

The park itself is immaculate! We never saw a piece of trash or forgotten pile of poo the entire week! The staff are constantly driving through and cleaning. In fact, the owners stopped by one evening to check on us while we were sitting outside and invited us to stay longer if we wanted!

Most people were there for the winter, many for a month, but they also offer daily/weekly stays too! Our week was too short so we will definitely be back next winter!

Warning: Verizon service is terrible! However T-Mobile was fine.

The good:
1. Big rig friendly
2. Wide sites for a private RV park
3. Plenty of amenities (laundry, pool, etc.)

The average:
1. While site is big, you are limited in placement of rig due to palm tree/slide outs and concrete pad.
2. You will likely need an extension to reach electrical.

The bad:
1. They didn't mention before arrival that you must sign a 5 page agreement upon arrival...even for a short stay. I understand for long term or seasonal stays, but a few days? Really? Some of the terms of the agreement don’t even apply to short term stays. It says you pay for electric (not applicable) it also gives them permission to auto charge your card for damages. Had we read this upon reservation, we wouldn’t have booked. (FYI: They also ask you to sign that you won’t conceal carry in the park.)

2. Most sites are grass, and in rain become really muddy!!! See photos.

3. Upon arrival we found a very deep rut we in the site. We called to ask about gravel or a site switch. While the gentleman was friendly, he literally just dumped a load of dirt/gravel and a shovel! (See photos) So our first thirty minutes there were spent filling in said rut to even put our jacks down without sinking! Why did we stay? No idea! We just had to laugh at this point! However we emailed the manager and CEO (with whom I corresponded when making reservation) and gave them the heads up about the condition of the site. Can you believe...no response. None. Crickets.

4. Not ideal for dog owners. There is NO common areas or common green spaces or even gravel that isn’t part of a site. We try to avoid walking our dogs along others sites for pottying, but here you have no choice. One out of 10 sites even have signs to keep dogs from their grass! There are signs all over at least 20% of sites about picking up poo. It just felt very unwelcoming. We always clean up, but we felt very limited where we could walk.

5. Location was pretty far from everything we ended up doing. Now that we know the area, we would find something closer to Port Isabel or Brownsville next time.

Overall...There are plenty of options in the area. We would look elsewhere in the future. While our stay was tolerable after getting settled, it’s not worth another stay when we return.

Parkers Crossroads Rv Park and Campground
Located halfway between Memphis & Nashville

We highly recommend this stop whether it be the night or a longer stay! It’s great! Reasonable price at $40 something per night.

Easy in and out and just a mile and a half off the freeway! They were able to accommodate our 43’ fifth wheel without unhitching for the night!

The office has a fun 1950’s soda shop theme, there is a beautiful koi pond, tons of green park-like space, a pool, and a large fishing pond! So much space to walk the dogs! My hubby even grabbed his fishing pole and headed down to the pond for a while! I sat in the gazebo for a while on the hanging swing.

Great stop to break up our trek back up north! We will definitely return again.

The nightly rate, I am not 100% sure. But it was comparable to the other parks in Marfa. Over all it’s a fine base camp for going out and about in town. There is a self check in station. We did not see any employee the entire time we were there. There are no amenities. Just a basic site with ample space. Nothing more nothing less. Tip: do not go Monday through Wednesday. Many of the restaurants in town are not open. In fact it was hard to find the ones that were open. We will definitely return to the area, but would not necessarily seek out this park for a return stay. We were just very neutral about it.

We were only passing through but the location is great and the wooded setting is very nice! We had a level site towards the back corner with a pond nearby. The staff was very accommodating even without reservations! We would stay again but might avoid peak times. Sites would be close if we had had neighbors on each side.

We saw that they were running a special weekly rate for $149 on their website. So glad we checked it out! Very helpful staff! The park itself is about 90% Winter Texans or permanent residents, but everyone we met was very welcoming! Super dog friendly! In fact a couple neighbors carry dog treats on walks even though they don’t have dogs of their own. The sites vary from grass to concrete slabs. The upgraded sites have landscaping around them. The standard sites are mostly short stays with no landscaping. We recommend the upgraded sites for the grapefruit trees and birds around and the helpful neighbors closer by! The park is only two miles from Bentsen RGV state park. You can bike there and through the park! However right inside the RV park there is a short birding trail that is really nice (also dog friendly)! There is an on-site pool, clubhouse, and coin laundry! The lanes are narrow. So bigger rigs, be ready. However we are 42’ plus truck and were able to navigate okay. Verizon coverage seemed to struggle quite a bit in the afternoon and evening for some reason. If you have to work remotely, beware. Overall, it isn’t the fanciest park in town but it’s very warm and welcoming and offers a great value!

Cindy and Greg are the most wonderful hosts! We enjoyed our week there! The pull through sites are so long, big enough for your toys or 2nd car! Of the 30 or so sites, most seem to be monthly rentals. Although we were just there a few nights, people were nice and friendly. The sunsets were amazing! It’s a great spot to homebase while seeing Cochise Stronghold, Chiricahua, Bisbee, Old Pearce, and the Willcox wine trail! Also go see Patty at old Pearce Pottery down the street! Her shop is so fun, and she makes everything herself! Enjoy your stay! (Price shown was weekly rate divided out)

We found ourselves delayed due to heavy winds and didn’t feel safe driving on I-10. So we called Vinton early morning to stop until next morning. Even though they don’t open until 3pm, they told me to pull on into spot 4 and settle up later that afternoon.

Full hookup. Level sites. Big rig friendly. Most of the clientele appeared to be longer term workers, oil industry maybe? Some nice rigs, some older rigs.

The property definitely needs some TLC, but it serves the need for a place to easily access and lay your head for the night. No complaints.

Heads up, there will be many people leAving for work as early at 4:30am. So you will hear trucks warming and leaving very early. Not an issue for us as we planned an early start.

Now I understand why the reviews on this park are so polarizing!!! If you are fortunate enough to pick the right spot, your stay would be wonderful. Pick the wrong spot and your stay is horrible.

Pros:
Price is as low as $15 with national parks pass but even at regular price $30, not bad for Dallas area.

Many sites have great views of the lake, and the sunsets are gorgeous!

Cons:
There are electrical issues throughout the park. We only had 15 amp service because 30amp was down! Other sites were reportedly down too. The service techs said they are due for an upgrade in system, but hasn’t happened yet. Sites by the lake go under water and those poles get damaged. Ours is one of those (site 11)! I would also avoid 13, 15, 17 because they sit low near the water too.

Our site was shaded by beautiful pine trees but they drop nuts full of sap all over. Our shoes are covered, our dogs were covered. Those trees are only down near the water though so sites 11-17 odd.

Most sites have a significant slope. Some are severe. Some are completely unusable for longer RVs. Avoid sites 27-38. That loop is very sloped and the road is in worse shape. Site 35 had at least a 35 degree slope upward! Avoid sites 20-26 in the north loop. We saw a toy hauler in 22 on slope where the bottom step is more than a foot off the ground. The front jacks were sitting on at least 6 leveling blocks! We were in site 11 and the front jacks were all the way down, but we’ve been at way worse.

Take-aways:
We would return again at the $15/night per night rate. We would only take sites 2-12 evens which sit on the hill with a view of the lake and were somewhat level. You might also be okay at sites 19-25 as well but they are sloped backward (given that electric works!)

If you are coming through to visit King Ranch, this is the perfect stop! It is beautifully maintained with very level mostly pull through sites. Big rig friendly. Most are concrete, a few are gravel. They have tons of amenities...nice pool, laundry, pool tables, hot tub, clubhouse! Super pet friendly with a doggie wash, 3 pet parks, two long dog walk areas, another trail outside the perimeter, AND access to the city park right from the RV park! In a larger city, this park would cost $60-80/ night! So at $40 with good Sam, we felt like it was a good value! We lucked out with a HUGE end unit! However all of the sites are decently spaced for a private park.
