We stayed two weeks at the rate of $100/week plus electric ($3 day average for electric - AC running most of the time). The park is about 5 miles from the military base, 8 miles from most other businesses, and about 25 miles from the Los Algodones border crossing. Very convenient for everything we needed! The people at the park were very friendly and helpful. Laundry room was very clean and in great working condition. The area next to the park was great for walking my dog and she could run leash free. It was easy to have my mail forwarded to here. We didn’t use the bathroom or showers, but I’m sure they were like the rest of the park and were an above average experience!

I stayed here based on reviews...”good overnight for $20.” Not really true for us. The price is now $25, but I would pay the extra to stay anywhere else. Hookups worked fine, but we were parked in the middle of permanent residents that were more than run down. The ducks were getting in all the trash that was left outside trailers! Tried to walk my dog by the pond, but I was approached by a resident that wanted to tell me about how all the wiring on the outside of his trailer was for the cameras so no one would come near his place. He did not make me feel safe. He did tell me the park is under new management and they want to make it 10 times better. Honestly, it wouldn’t take much, but I wouldn’t want that job! Also, it is next to the I10 which was very noisy! The manager Mark was very friendly and helpful; however, his dog barked incessantly.

We made reservations at Mesa Verde RV Resort two weeks before arrival. This park was especially attractive to us because of their 20% military discount. My husband is retired Navy and we RV travel full-time and seldom see a discount like this. It really makes “thank you for your service” feel sincere. We arrived and the office was closed. The next morning when I checked in, my credit card had already been charged for the week. We were charged the weekly rate, which is 10% less than the regular rate. When I asked about the 20% military discount, the work camper in the office could not help with this and told me that I needed to talk to the owner “Mark.” She informed me that there was a new owner and she didn’t think there was a military discount because the “prices are already so good.”

I double checked my confirmation email from when I made the reservation and looked at their website which clearly stated the military discount was 20%.

I repeatedly returned to the office with my credit card so the charge could be corrected—Mark was never available. It took three days before I was finally told that the 20% military discount would not be honored. I was told that I was “given the weekly rate and that can’t be changed.” Couldn’t be changed? I wasn’t asking for the rate to be changed. I was asking for the discount given upon reservation to be honored on arrival. The owner, Mark, never did make the time to speak to me in person.

It is not about the money or the fact that this park does not offer a military discount. We stay at plenty of RV parks that don’t offer a military discount. The whole situation was handled wrong and I received poor customer service in trying to fix something that I thought was a simple mistake. The park is under new management and may be having some problems with instituting new policies and new work campers who didn’t have answers or knowledge. It’s unfortunate that their growing pains were passed on to me, the customer.

Easy to get here. No problems with self-pay for camping and there is a visitor center with very helpful and pleasant staff if help is needed. We stayed in 1 of the 10 electrical hook up spots. We rode our bikes around the trails which were well-kept. The only minus that I found was that there is no dump station at this park, but we were told about a free dump station in Deming that is not too far.

There are three COE parks on Lake Wilson and if we weren’t given bad info at recreation.com when we called, we definitely would have stayed at Sylvan Park. I was told they were closed - off season on 10/01. Actually, they are open off season and have self pay box. $10 for electric, water available, and dump station available. The park was really nice and quite a few people were there. I don’t know how the bathrooms or showers are - we don’t use them anyway. Great roads to park, easy access, less than 10 miles off the 70. We were already set up at Lake Wilson SP ($30/day) when we saw this place open on our way to the town of Lucas (interesting place).

We were worried coming in here because web site recommends 21’ max. There were plenty of sites that would accommodate us. We were in site 7 for one night, a pull thru and a bit tight, but doable. We moved next to the water the next day where the biggest sites are. Overall a great Campground. The bathrooms were clean, no trash around, and right on the water. It was pretty full while we were here, come early for a spot (before 10 or 11) and probably earlier on Fridays. Half price with Access Pass ($9).

It was easy to find this park. It was pretty much isolated with nearest store was 40 miles away. Check in was easy. It was very windy during our stay at Farewell Bend S.P. When the wind would slow down, mosquitoes were everywhere and hungry! We stayed in Brownlee Loop and didn’t have hardly any Verizon Signal. The park was kept clean and maintained; however, I never used their bathroom facilities so I don’t know about these. I wouldn’t give a bad review for weather or bugs (they usually go along camping). The 2-star review is for the dump station that was the worst one my husband has EVER used (his words). “It was designed to fail.” Happily, he was able to finish the job without any problems, but it was really obvious that others had had problems!
