I called the office a couple of weeks before our trip. They were friendly and said that we didn’t need reservations, we just needed to arrive before 5 pm. On our arrival, the office staff was super friendly and gave us great recommendations for restaurants. We were the only camper in the parking lot. Although our first impression of the area was that it was a little sketchy, we found the hookups to be great, the night was quiet, and the guard at the gate added a layer of security. The Fair Ground is centrally located to everything in Shreveport. Full hookups, central location, guarded, and friendly staff for $25 a night is an incredible bargain for city camping. Will stay here again.
We stayed here during the week in late August. There were plenty of available sites. The original site we booked (20) was narrow and had a steep drop off down the hill. There was no flat space to step out on from our camper steps. The camp host was super helpful and found us another site (04). Most sites have a view of the lake and tree cover. This is a beautiful campground with friendly camp hosts. The activity on the lake can get loud during the day, but it’s peaceful at night. The only negative was the leaf blower noise at 8 am on our last day.

We stayed in the Equestrian area for the eclipse. Everything else was booked. We don’t have horses and neither did anyone else staying in the equestrian area. The pros: fairly quiet—only a little road noise, close to Wylie; the cons: picnic table boards were ragged and broken, cigarette butts were everywhere and the fire ring looked like an ashtray and garbage can, huge fire ant hills along the concrete picnic pad, area got really muddy after a storm. With some easy TLC this area could be a real gem.

We arrived on Labor Day and stayed 4 nights. We were greeted at the gate by friendly hosts. The campground was quiet and peaceful after what appeared to be a busy holiday weekend. Our site, #54, was fairly level with a wooded area behind it and good separation from the other sites. The trailer sites are paved asphalt with electric and water. Many of the sites are on the lakeshore. The campground is hilly, has lots of trees, and extraordinary views of Lake Lanier. Buford Dam and great hiking trails are nearby. This is a terrific campground near Atlanta. We’ll be back.

The staff here are very professional and friendly. We were able to make same day reservations. Although there are some full time residents, the park has the feel of a true campground. The view from the rear of our site was of the woods, hill, and road. The road has very little traffic. The campground is extremely quiet, even on the weekend. One evening we saw a family of deer walk down the road and behind our campsite.
The laundry room was spotless, probably the best laundry room in a campground I’ve ever seen.
We had no cell service with ATT, but the free WiFi was strong.

We stayed 4 nights while visiting the area. Bob, the camp host, was friendly and laid back. Our hot water heater broke while we were here. Although the campground doesn’t have a shower facility, the Trimble Hot Springs is directly across the street. We soaked in the spring and had hot showers in really clean locker rooms. The campground backs up to the highway, but the noise was not noticeable.

If camping in the middle of a frat party is your scene, then this place is for you. Sites were unattractive and untended. Do not recommend.

We stayed one night on our way from Ft. Collins to Jackson. The campground was easy to find. We were there on a Friday night in mid May and there was only one other camper. The sunset over the mountains was spectacular. The campground was extremely quiet and we felt safe. Our site was right next to the river. If it hadn’t been so cold, it would have been a great spot to sit and watch the stars.

We stopped for the night while traveling to Jackson. The campground is easy to find and easy to drive in to. The sites are level with plenty of space between sites. The sky over the mountains was beautiful as the sun set. Definitely scenic. We felt very safe. Glad we stopped here.
