As you may see, this place does not have a web site. It is an older family run campground. The original owner passed away ?? & now someone else in the family manages it. The place is small, maybe 15 sites. Several sites back up to a large pond which is bordered by a wide swath of grass which have picnic tables. There is a line of trees along these 'pond-front' sites. These sites have a raised gravel pad which is pretty level. The entire CG is grass & it is nicely mowed. There is a bath house though clean is quite rustic.

We would definitely stay here again & highly recommend it.

There is some road noise from Hwy 34.

I am using an AT&T hotspot & have had excellent coverage. Without the hotspot I have 3 bars.

I had not anticipated 'cool' & so was delighted. We were able to keep the windows open & use a blanket at night. This was especially appreciated as we had come from hot & humid. I was looking for a place to go at the last minute. Based on comments from other campers we were very lucky to get a site. This campground is very popular & we know why. We stayed in the bottom area. This is an idyllic setting; many large trees, grassy, peaceful, & just overall picturesque. You can see your neighbors but they are not so close that you can hear their conversations. The bath house was older but very clean. There are upper camping sites. These are in the woods & up a tight, steep & twisty incline. Campers have been severely damaged trying to leave. You should really talk with the reservation person before you book an upper site & have a larger camper before booking online. Roan Mountain is nearby & offers several trails. Also, the campground offers many trails. The campground does offer a password to their wifi but I heard that it was not very good so we did not even try; instead we talked to one another. After 43 years we still had stuff to talk about. :))

The older part is beautiful, so quaint & casual. The roads are sandy, the live oaks with Spanish Moss hanging is just outstanding. I do have to say that the sites are close to one another. The CG was not very full while we were there but I imagine it would feel quite tight when full. The bathhouse is satisfactory. There is a laundry which is great to have. All sites have a sewer connection. There is no dump station. The staff was very busy in the office. The island looks so natural; it is such a pleasure to see the land in this condition. There are bike trails all over the island. There is not much of a swimming beach. There are several beaches but most do not have parking. This was our 2nd visit. Surprisingly we had good cell service but used our hotspot so don't know about CG wifi.

A somewhat small campground in northeast North Carolina. The bath house is great, very clean, hot water. Our site, #25, was close to the bath house & consequently we could hear the exhaust fan at night - just a dull hum. You may want to find a site further away. All sites are large, some particularly large. The 'pad' is stone & most accommodate the picnic table, fire ring, and 2 or maybe even 3 tents, canopies, etc. Also, the sites are far apart & separated by trees. Many sites are non-electric. These are on the outside ring & back up to woods. We were told that in early 2024 several sites will be upgraded for electricity & some to sewer. The hiking is so-so. There are many trails but except for one they are all under 2 miles. The 4 mile trail is very easy with only some steps to get up the 'summit' of Medoc Mountain. A very worthwhile hike. There are separate trails for biking & horses. While here we went to Halifax, Aunt Ruby's Peanuts in Enfeild. We got bbq at Lynch's bbq in Hollister; take out only. We got supper at Mae's Grill is 4 miles from the campground.

This is a nice park. The sites are large, flat, not at all close & surrounded by beautiful green grass. As with most campgrounds, camp sites are arranged in a loop with sites along the inner & outer loop. Frequently the bath house is in the center of the loop. I select a camp site based on its proximity to the bath house as we use it for showers. I do not want to be right next to it but within a reasonable walking distance. Well - in the center of the 2 loops is a swamp! :)) There is a boardwalk to the bath house. Anyway --- it is not a problem; I just thought it was humorous. The bath house could use some maintenance. The shower doors are either too big & do not stay closed; the latch is too short to latch & it will stay kinda closed; & the last one will definitely stay shut without the latch but it does not have the 4" shelf for soap &/or shampoo. This bath house does not ventilation & gets steamy very quickly. In the cool weather in the winter this may be ok; in the summer --- not so much. The laundry facilities are located here. We used them & were satisfied with the service & the price. We do like the trash cans located throughout each loop. As our purpose in staying here was to go into NO, we found that a ferry runs from Algiers Point over to NO. It drops you off at the Audubon Aquarium. The fare is $2 or $1 if over 60 years old. There is paid parking & free street parking. We loved it. The park is very quiet & although there are a lot of campers here we have not seen many people out & about. We paid full price when making the reservation & received a refund upon arrival & proving that yes indeed we were over 60 years old. :))

We are staying on our way to New Orleans. The rate is a +60 rate. The roads in here could stood to be repaved & the roads into here --- o, my gosh, bumpy! The site numbers are painted on the pavement & a bit difficult to see. Our site is right at the lake & would be wonderful in the spring or fall. It did have a street light next to it. I imagine it would be a wee bit warm in the summer. The bath house is very clean & warm on this cold January day. There is only one shower. It too is clean. There is no ventilation & no operable windows. The thermostat states that it is for heat & not AC. The cell service - AT&T - has been great. I was very surprised given the location. The fire ring ia
circle of rocks. Tupelo is about 8 miles from here. We went in to look around & have lunch. We also stocked up on provisions at the local Walmart. It is unlikely we will be in this neck of the woods again but I would not mind staying again, if needed.

This campground is a remote location but still about 10-15 miles from Wytheville [WITH-ville], population ~8k. :) There are only 40 some sites here on 1 loop. The bath houses were old but very well maintained. There are 2 trails accessed from the campground; a 1 mile nature trail & a 15 mile trail. The 15er, Seven Sisters, per AllTrails is strenuous. The sites are well spaced & very few have a view of another site. We were here for 5 nights & found the place to be absolutely delightful. [rate paid was using Senior Pass]

This small deeply wooded campground was very nice. All sites are far away from one another and way off the road. The bath house is in the center of the inner loop. It seems most campsites, on the inner loop, had their own 'social path' to the bath house. The bath house is a bit older however it was very clean & the showers were hot. :) I have added pictures of the bath house because I really found it quaint.

As you know, the Reserve America site lists the Driveway Length. Please be advised that while the length is reported as 45', for example, you really have far less than that. This is due to a 4x4 wooded bumper placed at some point across the camp site. The bumper really prevents full access for a RV to back up into. We have a 23' travel trailer and we were ok. The truck was able to park in front & a bit to the side of the trailer. The review below this one, states that he had a 40' RV. We cannot figure out how he would have gotten into any of the sites. It's possible the bumper was not in place in June 2021.

The park has a beautiful visitor's center. While staying at the park we enjoyed the various trails & Edenton. [https://www.visitedenton.com/]. In Edenton we ate the 309 Bistro [https://309bistro.com/] and were pleased. We also ate at Tarheal Barbecue [https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100054617821456], though there was not much bbq on the menu. I felt it was more of a meat & 3 place. My husband had the trout special & really enjoyed it. I had the country fried steak & was not as pleased.

This is an older & small campground; there are only 13 sites. Half of the sites are set back into the woods & the other half back up to woods but are otherwise in a field. The wooded sites are beautiful. Sites 3, 5 & 6 are particularly nice; site 1 is very short in length. The field sites are not constricted by length or width. The bath house is quite old. However, it is acceptable. I have used some bath houses where I just have to grin & bear it. I did not need to do that here. It is a very easy walk to Somerset Place [https://historicsites.nc.gov/all-sites/somerset-place]. I wanted to stay at this campground to see and appreciate Lake Phelps. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Phelps].While staying here we also went into Columbia and visited the Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge [https://www.fws.gov/refuge/pocosin-lakes/visit-us/locations/walter-b-jones-sr-center-for-the-sounds-and-pocosin-lakes-national-wildlife-refuge-headquarters]. We did the boardwalk. Such interesting terrain. One day we had lunch at Barnyard Betsy - Cheesesteaks & Hoagies. [https://barnyardbetsy.com/] Creswell is a teeny-tiny town with at least 2 good places to eat. I had a cheesesteak & my husband had a hoagie. Both were absolutely delicious & too large to eat unless you are very hungry.. This place is a must-stop. Across the street is a coffee shop. The days we were there it closed at 2p & we did not have a chance to go -- Big Blue 252 Coffee Bar.

The nightly rate, listed above, does not include the required per person daily park entrance fee nor taxes. Our bill was $96 for 3 nights. The park, at one time, was probably out in the boonies of Austin; not anymore. It is now nearly surrounded by new apartments; land waiting to be built upon, an airport & a somewhat noisy road. However, this park is an oasis amongst all this. It is beautiful. I loved our grassy wooded site. We did not hear the highway at night as our windows were closed. Walking around the park on a 3-mile paved path you did not see civilization. The park is very close to downtown Austin, which is why I selected it. The only 'Austin' thing we ended up dong was going to the LBJ Library, which I had no desire to see but am now glad we went --- so many memories. As a heads up, on the Cedar Loop, all bath houses do not contain the showers; it is in only one.
