There are several ways toy see Mount Washington: by car, hiking (although take note of the weather conditions), or cog rail. The train ride is about an hour up back and forth, with an hour at the summit to chill out and, should the weather be nice enough to see anything (it has the reputation for being the site of the Worst Weather in the World), to take pictures. It's a pretty smooth ride up and back and the staff aboard the train are exceptionally friendly and ready to answer questions. The base station includes a small museum, gift shop, cafe, and restroom facilities. The summit includes the same, although the museum admission (a few dollars) is no longer included in the cog rail ticket. Carry a good jacket.

Great little, well-kept park. Includes a fun playground, outdoor amphitheater for community events, and hiking trails around the lake. Restroom facilities and picnic tables are also available.

Great little hiking area. The New York side is close to a small town with a restaurant and historical museum. The only restroom facilities onsite are Porta-Potties located in the parking lots. The MA side also has a small overlook, but all hiking on the MA side requires some efforts. For easy, but longer (and frankly, more scenic) hikes, start from the NY side of the park. Neither route is level enough for strollers or wheelchairs.

Located near the waterfront, this place doesn't look like a Polish restaurant or bar from the outside, but walk to the side door on the left (you'll see a sign for the Kitchen Hours) and you'll soon find a large bar and restaurant (looks almost like an old style diner) that serves up inexpensive Polish food, beer, desserts, and more. The establishment also hosts events, including live music. Check the dinner for hours and event schedule. If you have antsy kiddies in tow, there is a playground at the Elementary School next door (not open to the public during school hours).

Guided tours of the Tiffany-designed house are held regularly throughout the day. They also offer package deals to include the home of Harriet Beecher Stowe, who lived next door to Twain. The tour includes the history of the Beckett family. Small exhibits are also on view in the main building, and events are held in the Hal Holbrook auditorium, named for the actor who so frequently portrayed Twain on stage. Members of the North American Reciprocal Museum program receive free admission (as of this writing, check the NARM website). Tour is about an hour.

Great view of the Connecticut State House. Check the calendar for festivals an other events happening in the park, especially during the summer months. Parking is available at the State House after hours.
